Simple Spring Centerpiece Idea Using Vintage Pottery

March 19, 2026 by Kimberly Snyder Leave a Comment

Spread the love

Create a simple spring centerpiece using vintage pottery, soft greenery, and repurposed pieces. A charming, sentimental idea you can style in minutes.

If you love decorating with vintage pottery, this quick little spring project is such a charming way to use it. Today I’m sharing how I styled my mom’s vintage lamb planter — one she received when I was born — into a soft, garden‑inspired spring centerpiece.  It’s sentimental, it’s simple, and it’s the kind of styling anyone can recreate with pieces they already have.

This tiny lamb planter once held a baby plant in my nursery. Now, decades later, it’s one of my favorite pieces to style each spring. Vintage pottery has a way of adding instant nostalgia and warmth to any vignette, and this little lamb is no exception.

How To Use Vintage Pottery In a Display

This whole arrangement came together in just a few minutes using items I already had on hand.

1. Start With an Interesting Base

Can you guess what the “basket” is?
It’s actually the front cover of an old metal fan! I love repurposing rusty wire pieces — they add so much texture and character.

To keep everything from falling through, I tucked a wooden bowl inside the fan cover. This creates a stable base and adds a warm, natural layer.

2. Add a Soft Greenery Layer

I used two small wreaths I already had, cutting them apart with needle‑nose pliers.  The pieces were then arranged around the inside edge of the bowl to create a loose, nest‑like shape.

A couple of greenery picks with white berries added fullness and a soft spring feel.

3. Place the Vintage Pottery

Once the greenery was in place, I added:

  • the vintage lamb planter
  • a small sheep figurine
  • a few wooden spindles for height and texture
  • a shell‑encrusted ornament for a subtle coastal‑garden touch

Everything tucks in naturally — no glue, no fuss.

Another Way to Use the Lamb Planter

This little planter is so versatile. Here’s another simple idea:  Use it as part of a spring candle display. It adds instant charm to even the simplest arrangement.

When it’s not in a centerpiece, I keep it on a shelf in my office with a few other pieces of vintage pottery. They make me smile every time I walk by.

One Last Look

This centerpiece is proof that you don’t need new décor to create something beautiful for spring. A few greenery pieces, a repurposed base, and a sentimental piece of pottery come together to make a sweet, meaningful display.
