Dough bowls, dish gardens and DIYs were the most popular topics on the blog! Maybe this year, I should design a dish garden in a dough bowl!
It’s My Blogaversary!
Below is my 6 year old self wishing for a career as an entrepreneur! Little did I know what a journey that would be!
September 2, 2020 was the day I pressed publish on my blog!
IT IS HARDER THAN IT LOOKS , FOLKS!
I soon found out that it is much harder than it looks! There is a lot that goes on behind the scenes that most people don’t realize. Between KariAnne’s help and the help of another lady in the group, I finally posted my first post under the From Farmhouse to Florida name on September 2, 2020.
While not as physically grueling as working in the flower shop or sweating next to the 500 degree pizza oven, blogging can be mentally grueling. So much to learn! From Pinterest to Instagram to TikTok and everything in between, many times my head is just spinning! But one of the most important things about blogging is that it is your business and there is room for everyone who wants become a creator/influencer/entrepreneur! Each of us brings something unique to the blogging world!
My Top Ten Posts from the Past Year
#1 Red & White European Dish Garden for Spring
My post on how to make a red & white European Dish garden was my most popular post this year! The beauty of an European Dish Garden, besides being so easy to make, is that you can combine plants that have different watering requirements together in one container since you are keeping them in their own little pots. This combination of red & white flowers can be used almost year round.
#2 How to Style A Round Dough Bowl For Summer
This simple arrangement of baseballs in a round dough bowl is perfect for Summer! It is a great centerpiece to celebrate Father’s Day. If you are a big baseball fan, you could leave it out until October in honor of the World Series!
#3 Quick & Easy Way to Make A Footed Tray
I made this tray as part of a blogging challenge. I was able to combine my love of spray paint & Velcro strips to create this vignette!
#4 Summer Farmhouse Fireplace Featuring a Wrought Iron Gate
The fireplace in the Illinois farmhouse was featured in a number of blog posts and photos. The inspiration behind this post was a gate that I had brought with me when I moved from Cincinnati back to Illinois a number of years ago.
#5 How to Make an Armature for A Dough Bowl
An armature can provide support as well as decorative interest to your floral creations. I really love working with all the different decorative wires that Smither’s Oasis makes. The colors that I chose for this arrangement allowed me to leave it out throughout the winter.
#6 Chalk Painted End Table Refresh
Spray paint is another one of my favorite things! By using chalked spray paint, I was able to give this table a quick makeover.
#7 Kim’s Chocolate Sauce
This chocolate sauce is so delicious! It really is meant to be a base for either hot chocolate or frozen hot chocolate but I use it year round. I add it to my coffee almost every day. Sometimes, I even use it as a topping for ice cream !
#8 How To Style A Round Dough Bowl
I think I am seeing a theme here! Dough bowl how to’s and silk arrangements are very popular with my readers!
The curlicue on the end of the faux bittersweet adds a touch of whimsy and motion to the arrangement. It is easy to make by wrapping the stems around a pen and gently pulling the pen away. I use this technique a lot in my floral arranging.
#9 “Wooden” These Tulips’s Be Cute For Spring
Sugar molds are so much fun to decorate! I loved creating this spring arrangement that looks like the “tulips” are growing out of the little pots!
#10 How To Divide Dianthus
Dianthus or mini carnations are easy to divide. All you need is a sharp knife, some potting soil and a container. Depending on your growing zone, dianthus can have a long blooming season.
