WELCOME TO MIX IT UP MONDAY WITH MAD DASH MIXES

WEEK 83

Who wants to be stuck in the kitchen making food for your Spring entertaining festivities? No one!  Chipotle Bacon Dip Mix by Mad Dash Mixes is so quick and easy to prepare, you won’t be stuck in the kitchen!  Let me show you how easy it is to prepare!

Let’s get to Mixin’

Vintage Hamilton Beach Stand Mixer

Gather Your Ingredients

ingredients for Chipotle Bacon Dip

A packet of dip mix, mayonnaise, sour cream, shredded cheese and 10 minutes is all you need to prepare this tasty dip!  The dip does have a bit of “heat” to it from the blend of peppers in the seasoning.  Tame the heat with the addition of  extra sour cream or plain greek yogurt if you desire!  Of all the dips from Mad Dash Mixes that I have prepared, this is the 2nd hottest in my opinion.  The Some Like it Hot dip is definitely hotter!

After allowing the prepared dip to chill for at least 4 hours, you are ready to enjoy with some chips or vegetables!

What is Chipotle anyway?

Chipotle is a smoked and dried jalapeno chili pepper.  Generally speaking, chipotles are made using the ripest red jalapenos.

Popular in Tex Mex cuisine as well as Mexican recipes, chipotles are a great way to add  heat to dishes.

What do I mean by Heat?

heat scale for chili peppers

Heat is another word for spiciness. The Scoville Scale rates peppers from zero SHU (no heat at all) to SHU’s in the millions. Bell peppers have a Scoville Scale of 0.  The hottest peppers include ghost peppers which have a SHU of one million.

Jalapeno peppers have a SHU ranging from 2500 to 8000.  Growing conditions as well as how ripe the jalapeno is, can effect the SHU.

Chipotle peppers have enough heat to add significant flavor to a recipe.

Notes

In addition to vegetables, this dip can be served with tortilla chips, potato chips, or crackers.
The dip can be used as a spread on bread when making a sandwich
The dip could be served in a bread bowl. To do this, simply cut the top off a loaf of italian bread to form a bowl.  Place the dip in the bread bowl.  The portion of the loaf that was cut off can be cut into smaller pieces and used as a dipper for the dip.

COOKING WITH KIM

My entrepreneurial journey started with my love of herbs , both growing and cooking with them.  This love of herbs eventually lead to owning a pizzeria.  Throughout my culinary career, I have discovered that using mixes can make a cook’s life so much easier! Using a mix to make a recipe is as simple as adding a few ingredients to the mix, stirring, cooking or chilling and serving!

I am now having a lot of fun working with the folks from Mad Dash Mixes.  They did send me some products to sample but my opinions about the products are my own.  My full disclosure policy can be found on the Disclosure page.
