This Year’s Top Ten Blog Posts

August 29, 2022 by Kimberly Snyder Leave a Comment

Spread the love

Recipes and quick makeovers were the most popular posts on the blog this past year! Here is a quick overview of the Top Ten!

It’s Almost My Blogaversary!

Below is my 6 year old self wishing for a career as an entrepreneur!  Little did I know what a journey that would be!

Instead of an installment of Mix It Up Monday with Mad Dash Mixes today, we are going to take a little trip down memory lane and revisit a few of my most popular posts!

September 2, 2020 was the day I pressed publish on my blog!

They Say When The Student is Ready, The Teacher Will Appear!

KariAnne Wood Thistlewood Mastermind Leader

This amazing young woman is KariAnne Wood from Thistlewood Farms.   I have followed her blog for several years.  Since I had subscribed to her mailing list, I received emails daily.  I didn’t always open them… sorry, KariAnne!  But one that I received a little over two years ago , really caught my eye.  KariAnne was starting a blogging Mastermind group to teach the business of blogging.

I had toyed with the idea of starting a blog for several years at that point.  I just never did it.  I naively thought it was just like Facebook… sit down, write, post, done!   So I signed up thinking “how hard can it be?”  I seem to say that a lot right before jumping into something new!  Sometimes, I probably should have dug a little deeper to see how hard it really was!

In all honesty, KariAnne’s group was really geared towards people who were already blogging and looking to take their blogs to the next level.  She was gracious enough to make room for a handfull of newbies and give us the tips and guidance that we needed to get started.  She called our group The Creators.

IT IS HARDER THAN IT LOOKS , FOLKS!

I soon found out that it is much harder than it looks!  There is a lot that goes on behind the scenes that most people don’t realize.  Between KariAnne’s help and the help of another lady in the group, I finally posted my first post under the From Farmhouse to Florida name on September 2, 2020.

While not as physically grueling as working in the flower shop or sweating next to the 500 degree pizza oven, blogging can be mentally grueling.  So much to learn!  From Pinterest to Instagram to TikTok and everything in between, many times my head is just spinning!  But one of the most important things about blogging is that it is your business and there is room for everyone who wants become a creator/influencer/entrepreneur!  Each of us brings something unique to the blogging world!

My Top Ten Posts from the Past Year

While dough bowls and dish gardens are still popular topics among my readers and followers, simple makeovers and recipes were the most popular posts this year!  Let’s see which ones were the favorites!

#1 Quick Sofa Refresh Using Drop Cloth

Pillow with embroidered saying

My post on how to quickly refresh your sofa with a simple painter’s drop cloth was my most popular post this past year!  It doesn’t get much easier than tossing an extra large drop cloth over your couch and then adding a few accent pillows!  I do love the saying on that pillow, don’t you?

#2 The 5 Secrets to Baking the Perfect Brownie

Brownie pizza with 2 kinds of sauce

It comes as no surprise to me that my most popular recipe post was my post about the 5 secrets to baking the perfect brownie!  Brownie pizza was one of the first things I added to the menu when I purchased an existing pizzeria several years ago!  In this post, I shared the recipe for Brownie Pizza as well as shared the 5 secrets that will help you bake the perfect brownie!

#3 How To Store Your Silk Flowers

Does your living room look like the photo above when you are working your silk flowers or changing over from one season to the next?  If so , you are going to want to read my post about a few handy ways to store your silk flower stems!

#4 Grilled Pork Roast with Texas BBQ Rub

Just in thyme for Labor Day, I am resharing my recipe for Grilled Pork Roast!  The Texas BBQ Rub and olive oil combine to make this a deliciously tender main course!  If you haven’t tried it, I highly recommend it!

If you love a great chili recipe, you are definitely going to want to gather the ingredients pictured above and whip up a pot of my Black Bean chili!  It is so easy to prepare, especially if you keep some browned ground beef ready to use in your freezer!

#6 Wrought Iron Patio Furniture Painting Tips

Spray paint is another one of my favorite things!  My dear friend painted the flowers on the bench above before we moved to Florida.  I recently refreshed some other pieces that we use along with this one.

#7  Easy Pumpkin Sign Refresh

I used several different kinds of decorative wire to give this wooden pumpkin sign a quick refresh.  The post was one of my top ten posts this past year!  By using my techniques, you too can give a seasonal sign a quick refresh!

#10 How To Refresh A Primitive Bench

Primitive Bench on Hearth

If you have been following me for a while, you are probably familiar with my Mother’s fondness for wall paper and contact paper.  This poor little bench was covered with some lovely duck themed contact paper before I gave it a makeover!  It is so much cuter now!  The majority of you must agree, since came in at #10!

correction as of 9/3/2022 : Oops!  After I re-ran the numbers, #10 actually became #11.  Read about which post was actually #10 here: 2 More Popular Posts for the Past Year

I don’t talk about my faith a lot. I do believe I don’t talk about my faith a lot. I do believe God puts certain people in your path for a reason. An example of this occurred on Tuesday. It was colonoscopy/sigmoidoscopy day. I was really nervous about how it would all work since it was my first time since I had my cancer surgery.

The nurse that was taking care of me in the pre op area turned out to be the same nurse who had prayed for me last year. My husband was in the parking lot of the medical center speaking with his friend who happened to work at the center with this particular nurse. I was very sick at the time and they prayed for my healing. It was great to be able to thank her in person and let her see that the prayers had been answered. ❤️

Then the anesthesiologist came in and told me about his cousin who had also been diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer about a year ago. He mentioned some of the treatments his cousin had had and how important a positive attitude is. I was touched that he took the time to tell me about his cousin’s experience.

We had arranged in advance to have my husband’s friend as the nurse anesthesist. He was able to pray with us as well as reassure us about the procedure.

The procedure went well. The three polyps that the surgeon removed were sent to pathology. The report is already back and there no evidence of cancer. Prayers were answered again❤️
