Red, Rustic & Reclaimed Holiday Centerpiece

November 4, 2022 by Kimberly Snyder 22 Comments

Spread the love

Do you like reclaimed barnwood, jingle bells and spindles? Here is an Easy Christmas Centerpiece using reclaimed barn wood!

For this holiday season, I am all about repurposing, reusing and refreshing things I already have.  I am trying really really really hard not to purchase a lot of new holiday decor.  I’d love to show you the Easy Christmas Centerpiece using reclaimed barn wood that took minutes to put together!

Gathering The Elements

Do you have Christmas decor items that you want to use but aren’t sure you can make them work together? I would love to share how I did it!

On a recent afternoon, I dove into the Cave of Wonders* and came up with the following items:

A set or trio of spindles that I have had for a really long time.

A long piece of reclaimed barn wood from one of the outbuildings from the family farm

Three berry rings and two red jingle bells ornaments

My floral instincts told me these items should work together nicely since several of them were rustic in nature and three of them were similar in color.

The piece of barn wood was very dirty so I cleaned it with a spray cleaner that was safe to use on old wood.  In hindsight, I really should have cleaned it before I brought it back from Illinois!  I also decided to enhance it with a little dark wax.

Putting it all together

To give the berry rings more interest and motion, I spent some time fluffing them and add a bit of whimsy by using a pen to make swirls with the twiggy parts.

When I first put the display together, it was missing something.  I showed it to my husband, Dave and he agreed it needed a little something but he didn’t have any idea as to what that might be.  I tried a couple of things but the look just wasn’t right.  And then, I remembered my snowman pick!  I grabbed him out of a different display and placed him in the center spindle!  Viola! Red , rustic but with a bit of glittery shine!

Save This Pin for Later

Thank you , Jayne! I surprise myself a lot of the time! What is really amazing is these bits and bobs are what I have here in Florida. Imagine what I could do if I still had everything I had access to when I had the flower shop! I enjoyed working on the challenge with you, too!!

I love your term “cave of wonders”. I might have to start using that term for my craft room too once I can see the floor again. This is pretty. You did a great job of pulling together little things to make it work.

I’m definitely stealing your “Cave of Wonders”, haha! How fun that you were able to pull this together all from things you already had at home. I love it and LOVE that your husband has opinions (if not always answers, lol). Thanks so much for participating in The Great Create Challenge! You’re AMAZING!♥️

I don’t talk about my faith a lot. I do believe I don’t talk about my faith a lot. I do believe God puts certain people in your path for a reason. An example of this occurred on Tuesday. It was colonoscopy/sigmoidoscopy day. I was really nervous about how it would all work since it was my first time since I had my cancer surgery.

The nurse that was taking care of me in the pre op area turned out to be the same nurse who had prayed for me last year. My husband was in the parking lot of the medical center speaking with his friend who happened to work at the center with this particular nurse. I was very sick at the time and they prayed for my healing. It was great to be able to thank her in person and let her see that the prayers had been answered. ❤️

Then the anesthesiologist came in and told me about his cousin who had also been diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer about a year ago. He mentioned some of the treatments his cousin had had and how important a positive attitude is. I was touched that he took the time to tell me about his cousin’s experience.

We had arranged in advance to have my husband’s friend as the nurse anesthesist. He was able to pray with us as well as reassure us about the procedure.

The procedure went well. The three polyps that the surgeon removed were sent to pathology. The report is already back and there no evidence of cancer. Prayers were answered again❤️
