I Won Some Home Improvement Items!

October 1, 2021 by Kimberly Snyder 5 Comments

Spread the love

I recently won 2 contests!  I received some home improvement supplies!  Can you help me decide which areas of my home I should refresh ?

50 Sq ft tile, gift card and Frog Tape

I am so excited!   I recently won door prizes from two contests!   First, I won 50 sq ft of tile from Jeffrey Court as part of The Meet the Designer series this summer.   And then I won a $50 gift card from Sherwin Williams  and 4 rolls of Frog Tape from a Sherwood Williams/Frog Tape give away on Instagram!

Now I need help deciding what area of my home to refresh!

Should I use the tile and paint to redo our entryway?

The floor is poured concrete.  I am thinking I might be able to tackle placing the mosaic tiles on the floor on my own.

Or should I build a faux fireplace on the lanai?  I would love to have a mantel to decorate again! I do miss my farmhouse fireplace mantel.  Don’t you think it would look so cute on this wall ?

The gray stripe down the wall is where they took down the existing lanai when we had our lanai expanded earlier this year.  We still need to do some painting and patching on the lanai.

Maybe I should do a back splash in the kitchen?

I really don’t have much back to splash in the kitchen, do I?

I have some leftover tile from the pool project.  Maybe I could use it on the back splash and incorporate some color into the kitchen?

I really really really would like to lighten up this rock front on our home.  I think it could be painted over relatively easily.

I have tried really hard to cover up the brown rock wall with some of my planters and my parents’ old gazing globe!  But I think it needs paint to really help disguise it!

We probably won’t get started on which ever project we decide on until January.

What do you think?  Let me know your thoughts in the comments!

Thank you so much!

Scented geraniums were the spark that started it all — from herb shows to teaching classes to rediscovering them here in Florida. It feels like coming full circle. 🌿💗

Seventeen years ago today, I volunteered on the Ex Seventeen years ago today, I volunteered on the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition build in Philo, Illinois — a day that still feels as vivid as ever.

From prepping pots at the shop to seeing the landscaping come together, to standing off to the side during the reveal… it was one of those rare experiences where community, generosity, and purpose all collide in the best possible way.

There’s a photo in here of me with Will and Debbie — two wonderful people who volunteered alongside me that day. Will always wore those sunglasses; I still can’t see the sunglasses emoji without thinking of him. Both have since passed, and that picture has become a little treasure from a day we shared together.

I added a few newly rediscovered photos to my blog post this year, and it reminded me how meaningful it was to be part of something hopeful and lasting.

I pulled together this simple patriotic vignette with vintage touches, soft blues, and a few gentle pops of red. It’s amazing how a little fabric, a postcard, and a favorite finial can turn into something sweet for summer.

If you love soft Americana style, this one’s for you. ❤️🤍💙
