Happy Heavenly 93rd Birthday, Mom!

This is a picture of my Mom when she was about 3 years old.  Doesn’t she look sweet in her little sailor suit?  I actually found the shirt from this outfit when I was going through things when I was preparing to sell our family homestead.  I framed the little shirt and have it on display here in Florida.  If you are interested in learning how I attached the shirt to the foam board, all of the details can be found here:

Sunday September 19, 2021 would have been my Mom’s 93rd birthday.  She passed away when she was 6 weeks shy of her 86th birthday.  She really wanted to make it to 86 and she fought a hard battle to make it.  Many times I wanted to just write the date of 9 – 19-2014 on the white board in her hospital room so she would think she had made it, but I never did.

We did celebrate her 85th birthday with a reception in our church’s basement.  It was a well-attended event and I think she enjoyed herself that day.  She loved having people around her and she loved to visit with everyone.  I shared her party details here:

I wore my Mom’s wedding dress when Dave and I got married.  I had the yoke and sleeves removed and lace and satin roses added to it.  I also wore her pearls.  At least one of her friends had worn the dress in the 1940s and my aunt also wore it when she got married in the 1950s.  At one time, my Mom had calculated how many years total the people that wore the dress had been married.  I don’t remember the exact number, but it was well over 150 years.

The piece of lace pictured below is some of the lace that was used to enhance my Mom’s wedding dress when we had it altered for my wedding.

I originally thought these little silk flowers were from my Mom’s veil but now I think they might have been in her bouquet.  Regardless, she saved them and now I am saving them.  They are so precious!

I hope she has a wonderful day!  I miss her more than I ever thought possible!

Creating European dish gardens are one of my favor Creating European dish gardens are one of my favorite things to do! Why are they called European dish gardens? Because of the types of plants used and how they are “planted” in the container. By leaving the collection of green and blooming plants in their pots, the dish garden is quick to put together. #europeandishgarden #bloomingplants #containergardening #containergarden #gardenstyledecor #fromfarmhousetoflorida #kimstyledecor
