Can you think about St Patrick’s Day without seeing Green? I love to use shades of green and cream for my St Patrick’s Day decorating!
Decorating with Green and Cream
Certain colors are associated with different holidays. Red for Christmas, Valentine’s Day and the 4th of July. Orange & black for Halloween and of course, it is all about the Green for St Patrick’s Day! Decorating for St Patrick’s Day with shades of green & cream is simple to do.
I found this cute sign at the Dollar Store. I thought it would be cute in our entryway, hanging on the mirror. Do you know the story behind the mirror? If not, you can read all about it here:
The sign is primarily shades of green and cream, so it was the perfect place to gather inspiration for the rest of the St Patrick’s Day display.
Re-using the Spindles
The past two holidays were all about the Red, Rustic and Reclaimed and featured the spindles that I have had forever! If you have been following me for awhile, you probably aren’t too surprised to see the spindles to show up for St Patrick’s Day!
To get the spindles ready for St Patrick’s Day, I simply removed the Valentine’s bows. I packed the bows away with the rest of the Valentine’s decor so I could use them again next year.
Luckily, I just happened to have three ceramic shamrocks on wooden picks left over from my days in the flower shop.
The picks were a little long, so I cut them down using my trusty bolt cutters. Then, I stuck them in the top of the spindles and voila! St Patrick’s Day Spindles!
Nestled at the base of the spindles is ball of shamrocks! Well, ok, it is actually a green hydrangea head, but it does sort of look like shamrocks don’t you think?
