Bring spring indoors with this simple sugar mold display using moss, chalkboard markers, and vintage seed packets. A charming, garden inspired sugar mold idea anyone can create.
There’s something so sweet about bringing a touch of the garden indoors this time of year. With spring just around the corner, I decided to “plant” a little inspiration in one of my favorite pieces — my white sugar mold. A dear friend gifted me a bundle of vintage seed packets a few years ago, and the moment I saw them again, I knew they were perfect for a whimsical spring display.

Garden Inspired Sugar Mold
Before granulated sugar became common, sugar was sold in cone shapes. Today, these molds make the most charming décor pieces. I have a few in different sizes, but this white reproduction mold always feels especially fresh for spring.

Ready to “Plant” Our Seeds!
To mimic soil, I tucked moss balls into each opening of the mold. They’re easy to trim with a small saw blade or craft knife — just take your time and be careful. I added tiny chalkboard markers for height and structure. I tried writing on them, but my handwriting wasn’t cooperating, so I left them blank… and honestly, I love the simplicity.

Vintage Seed Packs
These packets are old — truly old — yet the colors on most of them have held up beautifully. I chose a mix of florals and gently leaned each packet against the chalkboard markers. Instantly, the whole piece felt like a miniature garden bench at an old‑fashioned seed shop.

The Finished Garden
Isn’t it adorable? It’s simple, nostalgic, and full of spring charm — the kind of project that makes you smile every time you walk by.

Why This Works
This little display blends everything we love about spring — fresh greens, soft textures, and a whisper of garden nostalgia. The moss adds organic warmth, the chalkboard markers give structure, and the vintage seed packets bring in that story‑rich charm that makes a vignette feel collected rather than styled. It’s simple, seasonal, and full of personality… the kind of piece that invites people to pause and smile.
