The Sugar Mold
With Spring still a few weeks away, I decided to bring the garden inside by creating a garden inspired sugar mold display. I happened to have some vintage seed packets on hand that I thought I could “plant”.
The first thing I did was choose which sugar mold to use. This particular sugar mold is a reproduction piece. Did you know that sugar used to be sold to consumers in cone shapes? This was before granulated sugar came on the market. Now they are used as fun, home decor pieces. I have several different sizes, but I really like this white one for Spring projects.
Let’s “Plant” Our Seeds!
To make the soil, I used these moss balls and then cut them to fit in the holes of the sugar mold.
I found the little chalkboard signs at the craft store. I tried writing on them with the chalk pen that came with them, but my writing is not the neatest, so I decided to leave them blank!
Vintage Seed Packs
A friend gave me a number of these vintage seed packages. They are quite old but most of them have retained the color in their labels. I picked an assortment of flowers to “plant” in my sugar mold. The seed packets are leaning against the chalkboard markers.
The Finished Garden
