Flags, Flowers, & Finials For the 4th of July!

June 12, 2024 by Kimberly Snyder 28 Comments

Spread the love

Looking for a quick way to add a festive touch to your home for the 4th of July? It’s easy as adding an American Flag (or 2) to your decor!

Summer Patriotic Themed display

On this blog, I may sometimes use affiliate links, which means I earn a small commission if you purchase via the link. The price will be the same whether you use the affiliate link or go directly to the vendor’s website using a non-affiliate link.  By using my affiliate links to shop, it helps me to be able to continue bringing you fresh new ideas and projects!  Thank you!

It is so easy to decorate for the summer holidays in the United States !  All you really need is an assortment of American flags on wooden sticks and a few minutes of thyme and BAM… you’re ready to celebrate!

As a special treat this week, I am joining a group of  bloggers for a Summer Home Tour!  The links to today’s participants can be found near the bottom of this post!  A big Thank you to Marty from A Stroll Thru Life for organizing this Summer Home Tour!

Before we really get started

No matter how you arrived here today, perhaps you are one of my regular readers, you found me on Google or via Hometalk, I am so glad you are here!  My name is Kimberly and I have a passion for flowers (a former florist) and flour (a former pizzeria owner) and many things in between!  Especially rusty and chippy items!

I love to share all the things I have learned over the years.  Sometimes I tell stories about my life.  Other times, I will share a craft or a recipe. I often use thyme for the word “time”.  I hope you enjoy your thyme here today and learn at least one thing during your visit!

Let’s get ready for some Summer Decor inspiration!

Let’s Get Ready to Decorate!

If you are like me and are running a bit behind in your holiday decorating, I found two different sizes of American flags on Amazon.  Of course, there are more sizes available but I find the 4 x 6 and the 12 x 8 inch variety will work great for your interior decorating!  They will even work outside!

I also added a link for the 3 hole base that will hold three 4 x 6 ” flags.

Once you have your two sizes of American flags , you are ready to start!  I basically run around the house and find places to stick the flags and I am done! In all honesty, I did take the time to make the summer themed dough bowl a bit earlier this summer.  The details behind making it can be found here:

Dough bowl decorated for the Summer

The summer dough bowl display is quick and easy to put together and can add a festive touch to your home all through the summer and even until the World Series is over if you are a true baseball fan!

Flags & Flowers

I have several silk arrangements around the house.  I simply added three flags to the one above and moved it to a different location and it looks ready for the 4th, don’t you think?

Summer vignette

The arrangement in the antique basket is accented with an American flag.  The flag not only adds a festive 4th of July touch, it also adds some height to the arrangement, making the vignette stand out.  The S on the table is from an old sign.  The patriotic inspired sign also adds additional interest to this corner of the gathering room.

Summer patio pot

This outdoor planter just needed a flag added to the center of the pot and it too was ready to show off for the holiday!

I added a water proof bow to the side to add even more sparkle to the pot!

Primitive Bench in Patriotic Display

Primitive Bench on Hearth

This cute primitive bench was one of the many treasures I brought to Florida from the family farmhouse.  The little bench wasn’t always so cute, though!  The story behind its transformation can be found here:

Before & After for the 4th

The corner cabinet refresh was a bit more involved.  The first picture is how the cabinet looked before it had a much needed makeover.  I love to use it to display my restaurant dishes and my Mom’s Pfaltzgraff Heritage dishes.

Love all the 4th of July decor. Especially love the baseballs. My dad played minor league baseball for several years so why haven’t I thought to use baseballs in my summer decor?
