WELCOME TO MIX IT UP MONDAY WITH MAD DASH MIXES
WEEK 29
Throughout my culinary career, I have discovered that using mixes can make a cook’s life so much easier! Using a mix to make a recipe is as simple as adding a few ingredients to the mix, stirring, cooking or chilling and serving! Sometimes, substituting ingredients becomes necessary for a variety of reasons. Today, I needed an alternative to using sour cream in dip recipes. Why? Well, I was out of sour cream and didn’t have thyme to run to the store. What I did have was Greek Yogurt!
I was in luck! The Greek Yogurt I had was plain, not flavored, so I was sure that I could substitute it for the sour cream in my dip recipe.
So, just what are we mixin’ this week?
LET’S MAKE BLT DIP!

Why Use Greek Yogurt in place of Sour Cream
What makes Greek Yogurt a good alternative to using sour cream in dip recipes? Greek yogurt and sour cream both have a thick texture Greek yogurt has less fat, more protein and fewer calories than regular sour cream. Both Greek yogurt and sour cream have a tangy texture.
While I haven’t made the BLT Dip using sour cream yet, I was pleased with how the dip turned out using the Greek yogurt. My husband & I both thought it was delicious! To me, the taste was similar to 1000 Island dressing.
I will definitely make this dip again.
