WEEK 101

WHAT ARE WE MIXIN’ UP THIS WEEK?

This week, I am mixin’ things up just a bit!  I first started the Mix It Up Monday series August 2, 2021.  I must have missed a couple of weeks because I think this should actually be Week 104!  In honor of my 2 year anniversary of writing this series, I am taking a look back in thyme to my very first Mix It Up Monday Post!  I hope you enjoy it!

Let’s get to Mixin’ some herb dip served in a bread bowl!

What better way to kick off the Fall Entertaining Season but with a new feature on the blog!  Each Monday, I plan to share at least one recipe featuring something from the Mad Dash Mixes culinary mix line.

I did receive some product from Mad Dash Mixes in order to test out their line but any opinions expressed are my own.  My full disclosure policy can be found on the Disclosure page.

I recently was introduced to the Mad Dash Mixes line at a conference that I attended in Atlanta, GA.  I immediately fell in love with their product line.  ** I have arranged for my readers to receive a 15% discount on any order at www.maddashmixes.com    Simply use the word farmhouse as your discount code!  I think you will love what they have to offer!**  They even have some products that are geared towards people who are concerned about gluten.

If you have been following me for awhile, you may know that my business is rooted in culinary herbs.  If you want more information about my herbal background, you can find out more here: Sprout, Grow, Bloom

Hopefully soon, I will be able to offer an E book version of my cookbooklet, Just Desserts Herbal of Course ! (added 8/7/2023 I am actually planning on writing and publishing a “real” cookbook/garden/decorating book in the near future!)

Just Desserts Herbal of Course Cookbooklet

If you want a little “taste” of what is in the cookbooklet , I invite you to check out this blog post where I discuss Herbal Condiments and ways to use them in your dessert making!

Now that we have established that I may know a little about cooking, let’s get started on today’s topic!

“Dill”icious Spinach Dip Mix served in a Bread Bowl

chips, dip & carrots ready to eat

In order to make this “Dill”icious Spinach Dip , you will need a packet of the dip mix , sour cream, and mayonnaise. To save a few calories, I used the light sour cream.

pack of dip mix , sour cream & mayonnaise

The dip can be served in bowl of course.  I wanted to see how it looked/worked in a bread bowl.  The store didn’t have a round loaf but they did have this oblong loaf.  I think it worked just great!  Here is a picture of the bread before I scooped out enough to make room for the dip.  Next to it, is a picture after I had scooped out a portion of the top of the loaf.  I cut the extra pieces of bread into small pieces and served them along side the tortilla chips and the carrots as an extra dipper.

Herb Dip Served In A Bread Bowl

This dip can be served chilled or you can add a couple of more ingredients and serve it warm!

I haven’t tried it yet but I think the dill spinach dip would make a great spread on poached chicken or grilled salmon.

Don’t you just love my EAT sign?  I made it at the same convention where I met the Mad Dash Mix ladies.  My husband thinks I am obsessed with eating so I thought it was the perfect sign!

COOKING WITH KIM

My entrepreneurial journey started with my love of herbs, both growing and cooking with them.  This love of herbs eventually led to owning a pizzeria.

After relocating to Florida, I decided to start a blog where I could share my love of cooking, decorating and crafting.
Throughout my culinary career, I have discovered the using mixes can make a cook’s life so much easier!  Using a mix to make a recipe is as simple as adding a few ingredients to the mix and then stirring, cooking or chilling and serving!   Mixes are such a time saver!
After meeting the folks from Mad Dash Mixes* at a blogging conference, I decided to add a weekly blog post featuring recipes using their mixes.  Now I am now having a lot of fun working with the folks from Mad Dash Mixes.
They did send me some products to sample but my opinions about the products are my own.  My full disclosure policy can be found on the Disclosure page.
*If you would like to try some of their products, I have arranged for you to receive a 15% discount if you use the code farmhouse.  Orders can be placed at http://www.MadDashMixes.com
