Let’s Cozy Up the Lanai For Autumn!

Instead of buying new accent pillows each season, why not change the look of your pillows by simply changing the pillow cover?

October 7, 2022

I first shared this post last October.  I am re-sharing it today since I haven’t been able to write any new blog posts since the Hurricane.  I did have a business trip planned before the Hurricane and after much internal debate, I did decide to attend the convention.  So between not having power and then traveling for a few days, I am simply behind.

I do hope you will enjoy reading this post!

I may have a pillow addiction!  Between accent pillows for the two couches in the house, pillows for the bedrooms and outdoor pillows, I am quickly running out of space to store the out of season pillows!  So I have decided to start using pillow covers instead of purchasing new pillows for each season or when I think I need a change.

See that rectangle box in the background?  It is full of pillows and pool toys.  It even has a slightly larger “twin” box in the opposite corner of the lanai!  I briefly addressed my pillow addiction in this post: Let’s Celebrate Autumn With an Outdoor living Area Reveal!

What is a pillow cover?

Most of you probably are familiar with pillow covers but in case you aren’t let me describe them for you!  They are like a heavier pillow case with a zipper.  Pillow covers allow you to change the look of your accent pillow with just a tug of a zipper!

Pillow covers can be easily changed for the different seasons and take up very little room when not in use.  You can use them to cover an existing pillow or a pillow insert.   Just be aware that covers and inserts come in a variety of sizes.  You will want to match the size of the cover to the size of the inserts.  Most pillow covers can be washed in the washing machine.  Just be sure to check the care tags.

I ordered these pillow covers and much to my surprise they came with pillow inserts already in them!  I ordered them from Boutique Rugs

Boutique Rugs offers a wide variety of home decor products including washable rugs, outdoor rugs, and pillow covers.  If you purchase something from them by using this link, Boutique Rugs

I will receive a small commission at no extra cost to you.

The pattern I purchased is out of stock but they still have a variety to choose from.  They even carry products made in the USA!

They offer a variety of price points also!

I love the pink and gray with yellow accents of this pillow cover!  I think it will look great with some of the solid yellow pillows I already have.  I also have some natural colored pillows that it will coordinate with.

What is a Lanai?

Webster’s dictionary defines a lanai as an open-sided living room or a veranda.  The word lanai originated in Hawaii.  The term is widely used in tropical locations to describe a rear facing porch.  Flooring for the lanai will  typically be either concrete, stone or pavers.

Lanais as well as Florida Rooms and Sun Rooms will have a roof and permanent side enclosures of either screens or windows.

We still have a few things to complete on our recently expanded lanai.  To read more about our lanai project you can check out these posts:  How We Expanded our Living Area

and here

To learn more about lanais, sun rooms and Florida rooms, you can check this post out!

You don’t have to have a lanai to use pillow covers in your home!  They work on your porch, patio, sun room and even inside your home!

Now it is Thyme to Relax!

Because of the types of plants used and how they are “planted” in the container.
