More Flags, Flowers & Finials for the 4th of July!

July 3, 2024 by Kimberly Snyder 12 Comments

Spread the love

Searching for some fun ways to incorporate red, white & blue with a touch of whimsy to your summer holiday celebrations?

Let’s Start from the Top

Gracie says “Grab your hats, folks!  It is Thyme to Celebrate!”

Gracie Mae Ready for the 4th

She also wants to give a shout out to the memory of her “grandma” being honored in the Bement,  IL 4th of July parade in 2013.  Gracie thinks her hat looks very similar to her grandma’s hat!

My Mom was honored in the local 4th of July Parade in 2013 for her years of community service.  She loved her country very much and was a true servant.  She volunteered countless numbers of hours to various groups and organizations.

My Mom  also loved to decorate her tables for the various holidays.  She  had several different sets of dishes and lots of different things to use in the center of the table.  She loved to decorate with the American Flag and other red, white and blue items.  I think I may have inherited my decorating gene from her!

One of the cutest things I found when I was going thru her things was this adorable California Farmhouse relish set!  I love to use it when we have a cook out!

4th Of July Table Settings

Flag themed material

With the long holiday weekend rapidly approaching, I went thru my stash of material.  I found this piece of oil cloth with an American flag motif.  It will make a great base for my centerpiece for the lanai dining table.  Since it is oil cloth, it is easy to clean in case something gets spilled on it.  It can be wiped off with a spritz of spray cleaner and dried with a towel.

Love the Flag centerpiece

To add a touch of whimsy to the centerpiece, I decided to add pinwheels to two of the spindles.  I love how versatile these spindles are!  I have used them several times since finding them in the bottom of the closet when I was working on this project!

The glass rectangle shaped plates are part of a snack set.  Instead of using the small punch cup, I decided to use the small plastic hats .  When it is thyme to eat, I will line the hats with plastic wrap and add pasta salad.

Another Alternative

To add a floral touch to the holiday celebration, I also made a tablescape with this piece of denim blue fabric with embroidered flowers.

This time, the spindles (or finials) are topped with the small wooden American flags.  A barnwood “love” sign is added to the display.  The sign was actually a Valentine’s Day sign that I found in the sale section after Valentine’s Day.  Since “Love” is a big part of my decorating theme this year , I have been using it quite a bit.

Patriotic tablescape

To end our day of 4th of July Celebrations, we will probably fire up the grill and cook something on the Big Green Egg.  I can reuse part of the decorations and add a few more touches!  I even have extra hats!  I think for dessert we will have ice cream served in the little hats!

If you just can’t get enough of the Red, White & Blue,  here are a few more posts that might be of interest!
