Does your wrought iron patio need a bit of a refresh? Has the sun faded it?  I have some easy wrought iron patio furniture painting tips to share with you!

Steps to Refreshing Your Wrought Iron Patio Furniture

  • Use mild soap & water to clean off your patio furniture.  Be sure to rinse well.  Allow time for the furniture to dry
  • Choose the color & type of paint you want to use.  For my refreshing project, I am going to be using spray paint
  • prep the area where you will be painting.  Choose a well ventilated area.  I normally will spray paint outdoors
  • after shaking the can of spray paint very well, paint your furniture
  • allow the wrought iron patio furniture to dry , apply a 2nd coat if necessary
  • once you are happy with how the piece looks and the paint is dry, you are ready to move it to your patio, deck or lanai.
  • relax & enjoy!

Vintage Wrought Iron on the Lanai

Vintage wrought iron chaise lounge

This is a wrought iron chaise lounge that I found on my parents’ deck when I was working on the downsizing/moving project.  I have no idea where it came from!  It was green when I first noticed it on the deck.

To get ready for summer, I took it outside in order to give it a new look.

2 difference kinds of Rust-oleum spray paint

For the first coat, I used the Rust-oleum Rust Reformers paint in black.  After it dried, I sprayed a second coat using the Rust-oleum Painter’s Touch in Flat Black.

Once the piece was totally dry, I rolled it back into the lani and placed it under the umbrella.  I added the striped accent pillow.  I decided to change the color to black since the majority of my other wrought iron pieces were black.

A Pair of Settees

I have two of these settees.  My dear friend , Lisa , hand painted the flower detail (shown below) on them before we moved to Florida in the fall of 2019.  The paint has held up amazing well!

hand painted accent flowers on black bench

The black paint has held up really well also so all I had to do was dust these off.  Let me show you what they looked like when I first pulled them out of the corn crib on the farm a few years ago.  They were pretty sun faded and sad looking!

Sette before being painted

Before Lisa worked her magic on them, I gave them a really good cleaning.  She sprayed both settees with two coats of Rust-oleum spray paint.  She used several different colors of paint and a small paint brush to paint the flower detailing.  I love how it looks!

Bistro Table & Chairs

This bistro set was stored in the corn crib along with the two settees.  The picture below shows what they looked like before we brought them to Florida.  My Mom had had this set for quite a while.  I believe it was yellow at one point.  If you look closely you can see where the paint is worn off and some yellow or maybe off white is peaking through.

After washing these chairs off, I used a piece of sandpaper to remove some of the rust.  Then I sprayed them with a fresh coat of black spray paint.

These chairs are basically extra chairs .  There is a settee or loveseat that matches them as well.

It was stored in the crib as well.  Before coming to Florida, it got a new coat of Rust-oleum spray paint.

Side Tables Refreshed with Rust-oleum Chalked Spray Paint

These two white wrought iron side tables were beginning to show some signs of rust, especially on the underside.  After washing them really well and allowing them to dry, I decided to try using the Rust-oleum Chalked Spray paint to refresh these.

These lanterns add an extra bit of light to the lanai.  They are solar powered.  To learn more about them, please see this post: Add Interest to Your Garden with Hanging Solar Lanterns

I don’t talk about my faith a lot. I do believe I don’t talk about my faith a lot. I do believe God puts certain people in your path for a reason. An example of this occurred on Tuesday. It was colonoscopy/sigmoidoscopy day. I was really nervous about how it would all work since it was my first time since I had my cancer surgery.

The nurse that was taking care of me in the pre op area turned out to be the same nurse who had prayed for me last year. My husband was in the parking lot of the medical center speaking with his friend who happened to work at the center with this particular nurse. I was very sick at the time and they prayed for my healing. It was great to be able to thank her in person and let her see that the prayers had been answered. ❤️

Then the anesthesiologist came in and told me about his cousin who had also been diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer about a year ago. He mentioned some of the treatments his cousin had had and how important a positive attitude is. I was touched that he took the time to tell me about his cousin’s experience.

We had arranged in advance to have my husband’s friend as the nurse anesthesist. He was able to pray with us as well as reassure us about the procedure.

The procedure went well. The three polyps that the surgeon removed were sent to pathology. The report is already back and there no evidence of cancer. Prayers were answered again❤️
