Searching for a different way to use your wooden carrier in your Holiday decorating? Simply turn it on its side!
I might have a bit of an obsession with wood carriers! I am fascinated by worn wooden boxes and rusty objects! A few days after my birthday one year, my Mom asked me what I spent my birthday money on… I told her a carrier and a wooden box…. she looked at me kind of strange and said, “don’t you already have a lot of those?” Well, a girl can never have too many primitive carriers, boxes or cool rusty things, can they?
I bought this one a few years ago from a friend who was moving from Illinois to Texas. I thought it looked familiar…. turns out she bought it from me when I had my flower shop/antique shop!

On this blog, I may sometimes use affiliate links, which means I earn a small commission if you purchase via the link. The price will be the same whether you use the affiliate link or go directly to the vendor’s website using a non-affiliate link. By using my affiliate links to shop, it helps me to be able to continue bringing you fresh new ideas and projects! Thank you!
I usually keep it on my potting bench. Sometimes I use it to hold small plants.

Occasionally, it gets tucked on a shelf to add color to the display.

While working on Christmas displays, I decided I needed something to showcase my collection of vintage Santa mugs and ceramic pieces. I decided to see if I could use the carrier to solve my problem. It is the perfect size to display some of my vintage Santa mugs and boots. By turning it on its side, it becomes a display cubby!
I tried styling it two different ways:

I think I like the top version better! What do you think?

Other Wood Carriers Turned into a Display Piece:
Another favorite carrier is put to use here as a shelf for part of my Jim Shore Snowman collection.

I had another old wooden one that I filled with greenery and used it to decorate the top of an old pie safe.

Old carriers aren’t the only things you can use in your holiday decorating. Old boxes can be used as well! Santa is perched inside an old wooden toolbox that belonged to one of my uncles. The boots were my Dad’s when he was a child.
