Spread the love

As the days grow shorter and there is a chill in the air, it’s thyme to create a warm and inviting atmosphere in your home using faux pumpkins!

Fall is here, and that can only mean one thing: thyme to start decorating your home!  As the days grow shorter and the air turns crisp, it’s time to embrace the cozy vibes of autumn. And what better way to do that than with faux pumpkins?

Let me share some ideas on how to create a warm and inviting atmosphere in your home using faux pumpkins. From decorating your entryway to styling your dining table, there are endless possibilities when it comes to incorporating these seasonal staples into your decor.

Not only are faux pumpkins a versatile and long-lasting alternative to real pumpkins, but they also offer a range of design options. Whether you prefer a traditional orange hue or want to experiment with more unconventional colors like white, gold or even celadon green, faux pumpkins allow you to express your personal style and create a unique autumnal ambiance.

So, grab your pumpkin spice latte, put on your coziest sweater, and get ready to transform your space into a haven of fall-inspired comfort. I hope you will get inspired with my easy tips for adding a touch of Autumn to your home this season.

Before we really get started

Today I am sharing not only my tips on decorating with faux pumpkins, I have joined together with several of my blogging friends for a Pumpkin Bash!  We will be sharing lots of ideas about pumpkins! From decorating with velvet pumpkins, to a recipe for delicious pumpkin flavored cookies, we are sharing a cornucopia full of creative ideas!

My friend, Cindy from Cloches & Lavender  is the hostess of this blog hop.  You will find all the links to my friends’ posts at the bottom of this post!  Once you have completed the hop, you will have a bushel basket full of creative ideas!

No matter how you arrived here today, whether you are joining me from Joleen’s blog (weren’t her scrap wood pumpkins adorable?) , you are one of my regular readers or perhaps you found me on Google or via Hometalk, I am so glad you are here!  My name is Kimberly and I have a passion for flowers (a former florist) and flour (a former pizzeria owner) and many things in between!  Especially rusty and chippy items!

I love to share all the things I have learned over the years.  Sometimes I tell stories about my life.  Other times, I will share a craft or a recipe.  I often use the word “thyme” in place of “time”.  I hope you enjoy your thyme here today and learn at least one thing during your visit!

My goal today is to inspire you to think of new ways to use what you may already have.

Let’s get ready for some pumpkin perfection!

Pumpkin Perfection! Decorating with Faux Pumpkins!

Different types of faux pumpkins available

Faux pumpkins offer a range of benefits when it comes to autumn decor. They are a versatile and long-lasting alternative to real pumpkins. While real pumpkins can go bad and attract pests, faux pumpkins can be used year after year with very little maintenance.

Another advantage of using faux pumpkins is the variety of design options they offer. Whether you prefer a traditional orange hue or want to experiment with more unconventional colors like white or gold, faux pumpkins allow you to express your personal style and create a unique autumnal ambiance. They also come in different sizes and shapes, making it easy to find the perfect ones to complement your existing decor.

Lastly, faux pumpkins are a great option for those with allergies or sensitivities. Real pumpkins can release mold spores and pollen, which can trigger allergies in some individuals. With faux pumpkins, you can enjoy the beauty of autumn without any worries about your health.

Choosing the right colors and styles for your faux pumpkins

When it comes to faux pumpkins, there are several types to choose from. The most common ones are made of foam, plastic, or resin. Foam pumpkins are lightweight and easy to carve, making them a popular choice for DIY projects. Plastic pumpkins are more durable and weather-resistant, making them ideal for outdoor decorations. Resin pumpkins have a more realistic look and feel, resembling the texture of real pumpkins.

In addition to the material, faux pumpkins also come in different finishes. Some have a matte finish, while others have a glossy or metallic finish. The choice of finish can significantly impact the overall aesthetic of your decor. For a rustic and natural look, opt for pumpkins with a matte finish. If you prefer a more glamorous and sophisticated vibe, go for pumpkins with a glossy or metallic finish.

Faux pumpkins also come in a variety of fabric options.  You can choose from burlap, cotton, flannel or even velvet!

One of the best things about faux pumpkins is the ability to choose from a wide range of colors and styles. While orange is the classic color associated with pumpkins, don’t be afraid to get creative and experiment with different hues. White pumpkins, for example, can add an elegant and modern touch to your decor. Gold pumpkins, on the other hand, can bring a touch of opulence and glamour.

When it comes to styles, faux pumpkins come in various designs, including plain, ribbed, or embellished with glitter or sequins. Consider the overall theme and aesthetic of your space when choosing the style of your pumpkins. For a traditional look, opt for pumpkins with ribbed textures. If you want to add a touch of sparkle and shine, go for pumpkins embellished with glitter or sequins.

Decorating ideas using faux pumpkins

Incorporating faux pumpkins into tablescapes and centerpieces

Faux pumpkins can serve as the perfect centerpiece for your autumn tablescapes. Here are some ideas to help you create a stunning tablescape:

  2. Coastal Hued Artificial Pumpkins & Gourds

Easy Decorating with Faux Pumpkins Table Ideas

  1. Pumpkin candle holders: Hollow out foam pumpkins and use them as candle holders. Place small pillar candles or tea lights inside the pumpkins for a warm and inviting glow.  Battery operated candles are a great option.
  2. Pumpkin place card holders: Attach small name cards to faux pumpkins using decorative pins or twine. This will add a personalized touch to your table setting and make your guests feel special.
  3. Pumpkin centerpiece : Create unique and eye-catching centerpiece using faux pumpkins. Cut off the top of a foam pumpkin and hollow it out. Place a vase inside and fill it with water and arrange your favorite fresh fall flowers in the vase.  Choose long lasting flowers such as sunflowers or chrysanthemums. This will add a natural and organic touch , as well as a burst of color and freshness to your table.  Instead of fresh flowers, consider adding artificial or dried stems to vase.  That way you won’t need to add water to the vase!
  4. Pumpkin napkin rings: Wrap ribbon or twine around a napkin and add a small artificial pumpkin as an accent.

DIY decorating with faux pumpkins

Now that you have your faux pumpkins, it’s time to get creative and decorate your home for the autumn season. Here are some ideas to inspire you:

  1. Easy pumpkin garland:  Hang mini faux pumpkins from the garland using ribbon or twine. This will add a touch of autumnal charm to your home.pumpkin garland hung on a wooden backdrop
  2. Mantel decor: Use faux pumpkins as a centerpiece for your mantel. Arrange them in a pleasing manner, interspersed with autumn leaves and candles if desired. This will create a focal point and add a warm glow to your room.white resin pumpkins on a fireplace mantelEarly Fall Farmhouse Fireplace
  3. Front entryway display: Create a welcoming entrance by arranging a group of faux pumpkins on a table or the top of a small chest. early fall coastal color entryway with lights on
  4. Tablescape: Layer a wooden grate on top of a table. Place a mix of faux pumpkins in different sizes and colors on top of the grate. Add some berry stems and seasonal accents for an Autumn vignette.pumpkins, bittersweet & architectural salvage

  1. Wreath: Create a unique and eye-catching wreath using faux pumpkins. Attach the pumpkins to a grapevine wreath using hot glue or floral wire. Add some fall foliage, pinecones, and ribbons for a finishing touch.
  2. Front porch display: Create a welcoming entrance by arranging a group of faux pumpkins of different sizes and colors on your front porch. Add some fall foliage, hay bales, and lanterns to complete the cozy ambiance.
  3. Painted pumpkins: Transform plain faux pumpkins into works of art by painting them with acrylic paint. You can create intricate designs or go for a simple and modern look. This is a fun activity that the whole family can enjoy.
  4. Glitter pumpkins: Add some sparkle to your decor by covering faux pumpkins with glitter. Apply a layer of Mod Podge to the pumpkin and then sprinkle glitter all over. Let it dry completely before displaying.
  5. Decoupage pumpkins: Give your faux pumpkins a vintage and shabby-chic look by decoupaging them with patterned paper or fabric. Cut the paper or fabric into small pieces and adhere them to the pumpkin using Mod Podge. Seal with another layer of Mod Podge for a smooth finish.

Maintaining and storing faux pumpkins

To ensure that your faux pumpkins last for many seasons to come, it’s important to take proper care of them. Here are some maintenance tips:

  1. Cleaning: Dust your faux pumpkins regularly using a soft cloth or a feather duster. Avoid using water or cleaning solutions, as they can damage the finish.
  2. Storing: When the autumn season is over, store your faux pumpkins in a cool and dry place. Wrap them in tissue paper or bubble wrap to protect them from dust and scratches. Avoid storing them in direct sunlight, as it can cause the colors to fade.

I don’t talk about my faith a lot. I do believe I don’t talk about my faith a lot. I do believe God puts certain people in your path for a reason. An example of this occurred on Tuesday. It was colonoscopy/sigmoidoscopy day. I was really nervous about how it would all work since it was my first time since I had my cancer surgery.

The nurse that was taking care of me in the pre op area turned out to be the same nurse who had prayed for me last year. My husband was in the parking lot of the medical center speaking with his friend who happened to work at the center with this particular nurse. I was very sick at the time and they prayed for my healing. It was great to be able to thank her in person and let her see that the prayers had been answered. ❤️

Then the anesthesiologist came in and told me about his cousin who had also been diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer about a year ago. He mentioned some of the treatments his cousin had had and how important a positive attitude is. I was touched that he took the time to tell me about his cousin’s experience.

We had arranged in advance to have my husband’s friend as the nurse anesthesist. He was able to pray with us as well as reassure us about the procedure.

The procedure went well. The three polyps that the surgeon removed were sent to pathology. The report is already back and there no evidence of cancer. Prayers were answered again❤️
