How to Make a Hanging Mason Jar

Have you ever wondered how to turn your mason jar into a hanging vase? It is easy! Simply form a handle out of Oasis Rustic Wire!

As An Amazon Associate, I earn from Qualifying Purchases

You will need a mason jar or two!  You can use vintage blue mason jars or the standard clear ones.  Whichever you prefer!  I had collected a number of mason jars when I had the flower shop to use for weddings and other events.

For this project, I used a combination of wide mouth and the ones with the narrow opening.

You will also need wire.  Any type of decorative flexible wire will do.  I used Oasis Rustic Wire.   The Rustic wire is the one on the left in the photo below.  To see how to make the handles out of the aluminum wire, please see this post: How to Make A Hanging Vase for a Late Summer Event

I made a handle out of one long piece of rustic wire.  I actually made it by wrapping it around the mouth of the jar.  I removed it from the jar so that you can see what it looks like and how I made the knots.

You will also need a shepards hook or something to hang your mason jar vase on.  A word of caution:  please make sure your handle is securely fastened to the jar before filling it with your floral arrangement.

I did a test “hang” over carpet in case it fell !  I didn’t want to break the glass jar!  Once you are confident that your handle is secure and can hold your jar, you are ready to fill your jar with either fresh or faux flowers!

Wouldn’t these look lovely by your front door for a special occasion?

Smither’s Oasis makes a wrapped wire that looks like raffia.  Pictured below is an example of a hanging mason jar with the “handle” made from the raffia like wire.

Oasis Rustic Wire : comes in two colors.  I chose the dark brown but it also comes in green.

Set of 2 shepard’s hooks.  I like the style of the bottom of this hook.  It looks like it would help secure the hook in the garden.

and don’t forget your handy vise grips to cut the wire!

I don’t talk about my faith a lot. I do believe I don’t talk about my faith a lot. I do believe God puts certain people in your path for a reason. An example of this occurred on Tuesday. It was colonoscopy/sigmoidoscopy day. I was really nervous about how it would all work since it was my first time since I had my cancer surgery.

The nurse that was taking care of me in the pre op area turned out to be the same nurse who had prayed for me last year. My husband was in the parking lot of the medical center speaking with his friend who happened to work at the center with this particular nurse. I was very sick at the time and they prayed for my healing. It was great to be able to thank her in person and let her see that the prayers had been answered. ❤️

Then the anesthesiologist came in and told me about his cousin who had also been diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer about a year ago. He mentioned some of the treatments his cousin had had and how important a positive attitude is. I was touched that he took the time to tell me about his cousin’s experience.

We had arranged in advance to have my husband’s friend as the nurse anesthesist. He was able to pray with us as well as reassure us about the procedure.

The procedure went well. The three polyps that the surgeon removed were sent to pathology. The report is already back and there no evidence of cancer. Prayers were answered again❤️
