Today would have been my mother’s 96th birthday. I can’t believe she has been gone 10 years already! I still find myself reaching for the phone to call her to tell her something or check on her.
My Mom, Jeanne Jones, was a very vibrant person. She loved socializing with her friends and family.
I am sure she is enjoying a very happy heavenly birthday, today. Since I can’t celebrate with her in person, let’s take a look back at the celebration I held for her 85th birthday!
Daisy Themed Birthday Celebration!
I am very glad that we were able to celebrate her 85th birthday with an open house in our church’s basement. Several of my family’s friends helped with the open house by serving refreshments and helping me with the decorations.
Vintage accents and creative centerpieces were used as decorations for the birthday party.
Since it was Autumn, I chose a daisy theme for the party decoration. The cake was decorated with daisies in shades of peach and cream. It was almost too cute to eat!
The cupcakes were also decorated with whimsical daisies. I used vintage looking pedestals to display the cupcakes.
I had a lot of fun decorating the food table using various pedestals for height. The peach carrier was actually one of the first carriers my Mom bought for me when I first started my herb business. It worked great as a way to keep the utensils and napkins organized.
The peach carrier might have been the start of my fascination with Worn Wooden Boxes and Cool Rusty Things!
We served her favorite banana punch! The punch bowl was surrounded by a collar made from a piece of burlap, accented with small silk flowers.
Angel vine with rustic daisy accents made a pretty fall centerpiece. The taper candles were battery operated. The terra cotta pot fit perfectly in the wrought iron stand. Rustic wire daisies were decorated with beaded flowers.
The tables were decorated with burlap runners with a lace overlay. The tables for the quests had small angel vine plants accented with a rustic daisy.
When you are the town florist, a party isn’t complete without at least one fresh flower arrangement!
My Mom had a number of health issues. She really wanted to live to the age of 86 but unfortunately, she didn’t meet that goal. She fought very hard. I miss her very much.
Happy birthday, Mom!
