Looking for a way to bring some Spring style into your home? These tips for styling a Garden Style Spring mantel will help you get started!

Garden Style

Now that the holidays are over, are you searching for inspiration on how to decorate a fireplace mantel for Spring? I have some styling tips for a Garden Style Spring mantel to share with you!

On this blog, I may sometimes use affiliate links, which means I earn a small commission if you purchase via the link. The price will be the same whether you use the affiliate link or go directly to the vendor’s website using a non-affiliate link.  By using my affiliate links to shop, it helps me to be able to continue bringing you fresh new ideas and projects!  Thank you!

Gather Elements You Might Want to Work into Your Display

Here is how I  break the down the steps so you can create a garden style vignette of your own!

In order to start my Spring theme, the first step is to gather your elements together.  I chose elements that were garden related.  Don’t worry if you end up with more elements than you actually use!  Something might spark an idea for a future display!  The gnomes gave me an idea for a later display! You can see the results here: End of Summer Garden Style Mantel

Choose an Anchor Point for Your Display

Brick fireplace with oak mantel

Before decorating the mantel, I added this piece of old fencing.  It has the perfect gray patina.  I placed the piece of fencing up on the mantel to see how it looked.  I decided the height and width were just perfect for the spot!

A set of black wrought iron gates act as a fireplace screen. These will serve as a backdrop for a display on the hearth.

Add A Focal Point

flower sign on fence ready to use in a display

To decorate the fence, I added a Fresh Flower market sign.  In order to affix the sign, I brought the piece of fencing down from the mantel and propped it against the hearth.  After I got the sign in place, I was able to lift the gate back up onto the mantel.

I love old rusty things, especially old garden tools.  After getting the fence in place, I added a few old garden tools at the bottom of the fence.

Then I was ready to start adding things on either side of the fence.  I decided to keep this mantel scape symmetrical.   The actual placement is entirely up to you.  By moving the fence to one end of the mantel, you could easily make this an asymmetrical  display.

fireplace hearth with Herb box

The old wooden gray box is filled with artificial herbs.  I decided that it would fit well with my garden theme so I added it to one end.  You can never have too many tool carriers or wooden boxes in my opinion!  More about my obsession with wooden boxes, rusty things and old carriers can be found here: Worn Wooden Boxes and Rusty Things!

Next I added a pair of resin candlesticks.  They look like concrete but they are actually resin.  I love their look! In keeping with my garden theme, I used flowers instead of candles on top of them.  By using my bolt cutters, I was able to cut the stems off of two artificial white hydrangeas and use them as accents on top of the candlesticks.

Metal bucket with faux hydrangea & garden sign

With the black garden gates acting as a background, I filled an old lard bucket with artificial hydrangeas and other wispy greenery.  I made a hand tied swag of mixed white flowers and tied them with a basil green ribbon to hang next to the fireplace tools.  I added a long metal sign and propped in front of the lard bucket for this picture.

Here is how the whole vignette looks!

I don’t talk about my faith a lot. I do believe I don’t talk about my faith a lot. I do believe God puts certain people in your path for a reason. An example of this occurred on Tuesday. It was colonoscopy/sigmoidoscopy day. I was really nervous about how it would all work since it was my first time since I had my cancer surgery.

The nurse that was taking care of me in the pre op area turned out to be the same nurse who had prayed for me last year. My husband was in the parking lot of the medical center speaking with his friend who happened to work at the center with this particular nurse. I was very sick at the time and they prayed for my healing. It was great to be able to thank her in person and let her see that the prayers had been answered. ❤️

Then the anesthesiologist came in and told me about his cousin who had also been diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer about a year ago. He mentioned some of the treatments his cousin had had and how important a positive attitude is. I was touched that he took the time to tell me about his cousin’s experience.

We had arranged in advance to have my husband’s friend as the nurse anesthesist. He was able to pray with us as well as reassure us about the procedure.

The procedure went well. The three polyps that the surgeon removed were sent to pathology. The report is already back and there no evidence of cancer. Prayers were answered again❤️
