Need to refresh your porch or entryway for the upcoming fall season? Let me show you how I brought the porch into the fall season!
A Blank Slate
I recently made a quick trip to Illinois to freshen up the farmhouse for a fall broker open house and real estate showings. I wanted to make the front porch inviting.
Originally, I planned to purchase pots of mums. The greenhouse I went to outside of Arthur, Illinois was out of mums but they had these magnificent late summer pots.
One of my favorite plants is Diamond Frost! I was immediately drawn to these two planters! When I commented on the Diamond Frost in the planters, the greenhouse owner said ” you really know your plants! Most people don’t know the names!” I admitted that I was a former florist!
You can find out more about Diamond Frost here:
Before
This late summer planter just needed a quick hair cut , some deadheading and the addition of a couple of white pumpkins to be ready for the fall season!
The burlap stand is actually an empty 5 gallon pickle covered with burlap and mesh. Isn’t it adorable?
The wrought iron handrails came from a Catholic Rectory in Paris, IL. You can read about how I found them here:
A Rustic Swing Garden Accent
The greenhouse had some interesting grasses as well as some herb plants. I purchased a mint called Berries and Cream and a lavender plant. I have missed having herbs in the garden!
The concrete birdbath in the background belonged to my paternal grandmother. I would love to move it to Florida but I fear it is too fragile to make the trip!
Past Fall Porch
I have fond memories of how the porch was decorated two years ago for the Estate Sale! You can read more about the sale here

You’re so awesome! I do not believe I’ve truly read a single thing like that before.
So nice to discover somebody with original thoughts on this topic.
Really.. many thanks for starting this up. This website is one thing that is needed on the internet, someone with
a little originality!
