WEEK 85
WHAT ARE WE MIXIN’ UP THIS WEEK?
Do you need a creative way to serve your dill dip? Let me show you how easy it is to turn a loaf of bread into a bowl!
“Dill”icious Spinach Dip Mix served in a Bread Bowl
The prepared dip can be served in bowl of course. For a recent family gathering, I wanted to serve it in a more unique way. I have seen round loaves of bread used for soup so I thought I could use one for dip as well.
The store didn’t have a round loaf but they did have this oblong loaf. I am sure it had a name on the package but I just call it an Artisan Rustic bread loaf!
I think it worked just great!
The first step is to cut the top off of the loaf. Save the top, we will cut that into small pieces and use them as dippers for the dip.
The next step is to scoop out the center of the loaf to form a “bowl” .
Now you are ready to fill the bowl with your prepared dip! I used “Dill” icious Spinach Dip from Mad Dash Mixes. *
“Dill” icious Spinach Dip
In order to make this “Dill”icious Spinach Dip , you will need a packet of the dip mix , sour cream, and mayonnaise. To save a few calories, I used the light sour cream.
"Dill"icious Spinach Dip Served in a Bread Bowl
Equipment
- mixing bowl
- measuring cups
- spatula
- serving pieces (tray, baskets, dishes)
Ingredients
- 8 oz Sour Cream
- 8 oz Mayonnaise
- 1 packet "Dill"icious Spinach Mix seasoning packet from Mad Dash Mixes
- 1 loaf Italian bread round or oval
Instructions
- Combine seasoning packet with the sour cream & mayonnaise.
- Chill for at least 4 hours to allow the flavors to blend
- Stir the dip mix again before adding to the bread bowl or other serving container
- Serve chilled with assorted cut vegetables, crackers, bread cubes or tortilla chips.
Notes
This dip can be served chilled or you can add a couple of more ingredients and serve it warm! Simply add 1 can drained & chopped artichoke hearts and 1/2 cup parmesan cheese to the prepared dill dip. Place this mixture in an oven proof pan and heat at 350 until heated through, approximately 30 minutes.
I haven’t tried it yet but I think the dill spinach dip would make a great spread on poached chicken or grilled salmon.

Cooking With Kim
My entrepreneurial journey started with my love of herbs, both growing and cooking with them. My love of herbs eventually led to owning a pizzeria.
After relocating to Florida, I decided to start a blog.
Throughout my culinary career, I have discovered the using mixes can make a cook’s life so much easier! Using a mix to make a recipe is as simple as adding a few ingredients to the mix and then stirring, cooking or chilling and serving! Mixes are such a time saver! After meeting the folks from Mad Dash Mixes* at a blogging conference last summer, I decided to add a weekly blog post featuring recipes using their mixes. I am now having a lot of fun working with the folks from Mad Dash Mixes.
They did send me some products to sample but my opinions about the products are my own. My full disclosure policy can be found on the Disclosure page.
