Christmas in July! Summer is the perfect time to start thinking about how you are going to decorate your home for the upcoming Holiday season! Christmas is only 5 months away! Yikes!
Do you plan a special theme ? Do you have certain items you love to use and bring back memories of holidays past? Now is the thyme to start planning your holiday decor.
I thought I would share some ideas that I have used in the past. Over the next several days, I will share some tips, tricks & ideas that have worked for me!
Let’s Start with Where is it all Gonna Go?
I don’t know about you but one of my biggest struggles, especially since moving to a smaller house, is where to put the tree each year. Today, I am sharing a couple of “older” posts where I share my challenges of finding the perfect spot for the tree and other holiday “props”.
Since moving to Florida, we have been decorating with artificial trees. I do love a real tree. I worry they won’t last long here in Florida so I just haven’t tried one yet!
The first year we were living in Florida full time, we had just gotten back from a long trip so I only put up a 3 foot tree. The next year, I decided to put up a 6 ft tree that my Great Aunt had left behind.
In case you are just starting to follow me, my husband & I were fortunate enough to purchase our Florida home from my Great Aunt. She was an amazing lady. She passed away in January 2024, just 70 days shy of her 106th birthday! You can read about her here: Meet My Great Aunt Pauline!
Before moving to Florida, we lived in a farmhouse built in 1893. It had been in my family for a number of years. There was a lot of room in the farmhouse and between my Mother & I, we had it filled up! I shared the process of downsizing in a series of posts in a Thyme to Let Go Series. You can find them all here: Downsizing The Family Homestead
The process involved many, many parts and quite a few tears!
While I did downsize a lot, I still had/have a variety of things that I am still trying to find room for. One thing I do not have is a storage unit! There is a story behind that that I will share at a different time!
Back to the topic of where to put the tree!
The second year we were in Florida, I decided to put up the 6 ft artificial Christmas tree. After much discussion, we finally decided to put it in the gathering room. To learn about all the things that had to happen before we got the tree in place, please click on the link below the picture!

Once we got the tree in place and decorated, it was thyme to decorate the rest of the house! You may have noticed that I like to use “thyme” instead of “time” in my writing. I have a background in culinary herbs so I think I am witty!
Why Stop With One Tree, Let’s Put Up A Second One

In my post, Shabby Chic Inspired Christmas Tree
I share my struggles of find a spot to put up a second tree so that I could use my vintage Christmas ornaments. Do you put up more than one tree? I think the most I ever put up in the farmhouse was 7. The house was on a Christmas walk one year so it needed to be full of Christmas cheer! So far, 2 is the most I have put up in Florida. I think that might change this year if I do a special event on the lanai! Can’t wait to share those details with you if it happens!!
Save this pin for later!
I Can Move It Myself!
Sometimes, I get impatient and don’t want to wait for help. Or more likely, I don’t want to listen to the fussin’ that goes along with getting the help! Can you relate?
I needed to move this conservatory made out of old windows from the garage to the house.

By propping all the doors open and then using a series of different size totes, I managed to get it in place.

Once it was in place, I decorated it for the holiday season.

There is a sentimental story behind this conservatory that I share in this post Finding the Perfect Spot for the Conservatory
I hope you enjoyed reading these posts! Please stop back over the next few days as I share more Christmas In July inspiration!

LOL! Yep, I can relate Kim! Men… I haven’t decided how many trees I will put up this year, but I look forward to putting them up every year. It is always fun, and I enjoy seeing all of my Christmas pals every year, you know, the ornaments! The best part of Christmas. Thank you for sharing.
I wish I would have put up more trees when we still lived in the farmhouse. I may put one on the lanai this year with shatterproof ornaments! thanks for stopping by!
