Calming Coastal Colors for Autumn

Spread the love

Calming Coastal Colors for Autumn is a color palette based on the soothing colors of the sea. The palette features celadon green & cream.

Are you looking for a way to incorporate the calming colors of celadon green & cream in your early Autumn decor? I consider these two colors to be the basis of the Calming Coastal Colors for Autumn palette.  These colors are meant to calm and soothe, making them perfect for use in home decor.

These colors are help to bring out the natural beauty of the seasons. They’re also great to use as accents in rooms with neutral tones.  These colors also great for use on walls, furniture, and other surfaces.

I love using these colors year round but especially in the Fall when people are expecting to see the more traditional Fall colors.

My “Muse”

Usually when I am starting to work on a vignette, I find something to use as my inspiration or my muse.  My inspiration for the Calming Coastal Colors for Autumn was actually this picture of Dave (Mr Farmhouse for those of you who might be new!).  This picture was taken a few years ago when we were fortunate enough to travel to the island of Lido, Italy.  It is off the coast of Venice.

I also “borrowed” a few items from the display I had on the dining room sideboard a few years ago.  I had a similar color scheme that year.

Shades of Celedon, cream & blue for fall

The pumpkin topiary in coastal shades as well as the single pumpkin on the tabletop helped add a touch of fall to this vignette.  The ceramic pitcher and blue canning jars belonged to my Mom.  Their color reminds of the sea.  The three sand dollars were among the many shells that were in my Grandmother’s collection.

This tray!  I absolutely love it!  It is made from recycled barn tin.   I have used it in many different areas of my home.  It was a splurge item that I bought with some of my tip money when I still owned Makin’ Pizza!  If you are interested in learning more about my thyme as an entrepreneur, all the details are here:

Summer Rendition of  the Entry Way

Pictured below is the entryway styled for Summer.  The oak framed mirror originally belonged to my Mother.  The story of where she found it and how she got it “home” can be found here:

Shells, wood tones and a few pumpkins are used to create a charming vignette using a color palette based on the soothing colors of the sea.

By leaving some of the key elements in place, it didn’t take long to give the entryway a quick refresh for Autumn using the calming coastal colors featuring celadon green and cream.

I used a spray cleaner and a Mr Clean sponge to clean the off white pillar.  More tips on how to clean old wood can be found here:

I love the shell covered orbs.  I have also used them in the sand dollar centerpiece

I added a few green leaves underneath one of the orbs for the entryway vignette.

The battery operated candles I used in this vignette actually change colors.  I keep them on the regular candle color but I could change them to a different color if I wanted.

Great colors – I’ve done something kind of like this in the past but going a little brighter this year with adding in orange. Although here in TN I see too much orange all year long.

Thank you, Rosemary! My husband isn’t a fan of orange or pumpkins so I have to find ways to bring touches of fall into the house without too much orange!

I love it when people use non-traditional colors in their seasonal decor! The coastal colors you chose are very calming and look so good together! That pumpkin stack is wonderful! Blessings, Donna

I love your vignette and the colors are perfect. I’m not a big fan of orange either (although a few things sneak in here & there) but you did a lovely job. Have a lovely day. XO- MaryJo
