Budget Friendly Ways to Refresh A Silk Arrangement

Looking to refresh a silk arrangement for the upcoming holiday season without spending a lot of money? Here are a few budget friendly tips!

Silk flowers are beautiful, but they can also be expensive. Here are some budget friendly ways to refresh a silk arrangement. Perhaps you have an arrangement or two that could use a quick makeover for the Holiday season!

With a few seasonal silk flowers, some glittery accents and a string of battery lights, you can turn an out of season silk arrangement into a “new” Holiday arrangement!

Pink & White silk Arrangement for Christmas

Budget Friendly Ways to Refresh A Silk Arrangement

I honestly don’t remember where this silk arrangement came from.  I thought I could make it work with my coastal/shabby chic decor.  Since I don’t use a lot of pink in my everyday decor, it ended up just taking up space in the back bedroom.

Until one afternoon when it dawned on me that with a few twists and a bit of floral magic, it could be transformed into something  that would look lovely with my pink Christmas tree!

The Process

Did you know you can just pop the heads off of a silk flower stem?  And replace them with another flower head?  That is what I did.

First, I went thru my stock of Christmas/Holiday silk flowers to see what I could use.  I found a garland of white poinsettias that I had never used.  I also found a few sprigs of frosted ivy that I thought would work.

First I removed the white lilies.

I replaced the lilies with white poinsettias.   I left the three pink roses in place as well as the tiny green flowers.

I added a few pieces of frosted ivy and then put the inner part of the poinsettia in the center of the ivy to make it more interesting.  This is how I took the larger poinsettia apart so that I could use the smaller center part.

To add a little holiday glitz, I decided to use 5 glittered pine cones.  If you don’t have glittered pinecones, plain pine cones can work.  If you want a little more glitz, just  add  some spray glitter.

Add The Lights

The final step is to weave the battery lights thru the arrangement.  The lights I chose to use had pearl beads as well as tiny lights.

Refreshing the arrangement by changing out a few flowers and accents for the current season allows you to save on storage space. Place the out of season flowers and accent pieces in a Ziploc bag and mark them “Flowers/Accents for Holiday Centerpiece” or something similar.  The Ziploc bag will take up much less space than a finished arrangement!

A Few More Budget Friendly Ways to Refresh A Silk Arrangement

Spray paint can be used to refresh the silk flowers that you plan to use in a seasonal arrangement.  To learn how I turned this “brown” bouquet into something I could use for the Christmas holidays, please see this post: Spray Paint is Your Friend!

Creating European dish gardens are one of my favor Creating European dish gardens are one of my favorite things to do! Why are they called European dish gardens? Because of the types of plants used and how they are “planted” in the container. By leaving the collection of green and blooming plants in their pots, the dish garden is quick to put together. #europeandishgarden #bloomingplants #containergardening #containergarden #gardenstyledecor #fromfarmhousetoflorida #kimstyledecor
