Quick & Easy Autumn Accents
Today I would like to share four coastal shabby chic Autumn decor vignettes in my home. These were super easy to update for Autumn. The entryway, the dining room side table, the gathering room coffee table centerpiece and the living room coffee table centerpiece. To update these vignettes for Fall, I used items I already had with the exception of a few faux pumpkins that my husband purchased for me at the grocery store!
Autumn Accents in the Entryway
The green carrier has been part of the display on the marble top chest of drawers for a number of months. The carrier has been part of my collection for over twenty years. It was purchased from a dear friend. I love the deep green color. It has some blue paint peeking thru on the front but that is currently hidden by the pumpkin pic!
In order to update the carrier for Autumn, I simply added a few more sprigs of greenery, the velvet pumpkins, the pumpkin pic and an orange burlap pumpkin. A buffalo plaid pumpkin is perched on top of the architectural piece to draw attention. The mirror belonged to my Mom. You can read the story behind the mirror here:
Seasonal Touches for the Long Dough Bowl
The addition of three white pumpkins similar to the ones in the bowl below as well as the coastal colored leaves brought this everyday centerpiece into the next season! I am almost embarrassed to admit how simple it was to add a touch of Autumn to this centerpiece!
The glass balls covered with a crocheted cover resemble Japanese fishing floats. They are actually meant to be weights to attach to a tablecloth outdoors in order to help hold it in place. I found these adorable glass spheres at my Mom’s house when I was clearing it out. They were tucked in with her supply of picnic items. I almost put them in the donate pile until I actually looked at them and saw how they would fit in the coastal decor at the Florida house!
The shells were part of my Grandmother’s shell collection. My grandparents used to spend the month of January in the Fort Myers, Florida area in the late 50s and early 60s and my grandmother would bring back shells. After my grandmother passed away, my Mom ended up with the shell collection.
The Dining Room Side Table Vignette
The tray was a splurge purchase I made while we still lived in Illinois. Sometimes I got to deliver pizzas when the delivery guys were unable to work. I saved my tip money and used it to buy this tray at an interior design store. The tray looks like it might be made out of antique barn tin and reclaimed wood. The pumpkin topiary in coastal shades as well as the single pumpkin on the tabletop add fall to this vignette. The ceramic pitcher and blue canning jars belonged to my Mom. Their color reminds of the sea. The three sand dollars were among the shells that were in my Grandmother’s collection.
A Round Dough Bowl Styled for Fall
