Look what I found! An actual Farmhouse In Florida! This one is located in the historic Avondale area in Jacksonville, Florida! While I wasn’t actively searching for a forever farmhouse, it is always fun to look and see what might be available.

Charm & Character
Having spent more than 1/2 my life living in a farmhouse, I am drawn to the charm and character you can find in an older home.
While I do love being able to have blooming plants outside practically year round since we moved to Florida, I do miss having a front porch to decorate! Look how similar the Florida Farmhouse front porch is to the Illinois Farmhouse front porch. This one even has wrought iron railings similar the ones I had on my Illinois farmhouse! I noticed the wrought iron handrails right away!

The Front Porch Ceiling
Isn’t this farmhouse front porch ceiling painted a beautiful color? The Illinois farmhouse front porch ceiling was painted black but seeing this color, wow! If I had the chance, I would definitely use this color!
This old wicker plant stand would look so cute on this front porch, don’t you think?
French Doors & Hardwood Floors
Another thing I really loved about living in the Illinois Farmhouse as well as my 1904 Sears house in Cincinnati Ohio was the craftsmanship and the woodwork. Pictured below are the French doors in the living room of the Illinois Farmhouse. You can also see the front door in this picture. Living in the country, we didn’t use the front door very often. We used the side door to get in and out of the house. I loved this old door with its doorbell with the little crank mechanism and the skeleton key!
The farmhouse in Jacksonville, Fl has two sets of French doors, hardwood floors and pretty woodwork too! Look how shiny those hardwood floors are! I love them!
Farmhouse Fireplace
One of the features of the Illinois Farmhouse I miss the most is the fireplace and its mantel. It was a great place to decorate for the various holidays and the seasons. I am still trying to figure out how to add a fireplace or at least a fireplace mantel to our Florida house.
And what do you know? The Jacksonville Farmhouse has a fireplace and it is even brick, just like the one in Illinois!
It looks like there is an electrical outlet on the wall above the mantel. If you wanted to, you could put your television on the mantel. I probably would put the TV somewhere else and use the mantel as a place to showcase some of my vintage treasures like the picture below.
I better be careful! I have almost talked myself into viewing this fantastic farmhouse in Avondale! Don’t tell Dave, we might be moving again!

I have never lived in a farmhouse, it just never worked out that way. I admire and dream about living on a farm and fixing up an older farmhouse.

This does look like a farmhouse. Many decorate in that style and call it a farmhouse, but many aren’t. What fun it would be to move in and fix it up to your liking.

How wonderful! It looks like it has your name on it. It’s a Southern thing to paint porch ceilings blue to symbolize water and keep “bad” out…I just think it’s beautiful without that symbolism. Congratulations on a sponsored post!!!

The homes are gorgeous! Older homes have such detail that newer homes are missing. Our home is just under 25 years old but when we built it we tried to add some detail like solid hardwood floors throughout. Thanks for sharing these beautiful homes, Kimberly!

This farmhouse is beautiful! I’ve always wanted to live in a farmhouse but am not willing to leave California lol. My family grew up in N Dakota so I visited them a lot and loved it.
I was surprised to find a farmhouse in Florida! There might still be one in California! You never know! I haven’t been to North Dakota. I bet it is beautiful!
