Peace, Love & Joy – important throughout the year, not just at Christmas! What brings you joy? What do you love? How do you find peace?

Peace, love, joy: three simple words that hold so much meaning.  I found this sign on clearance after Christmas one year, but I really think these words are important all year round!

Most, if not all of us, seek these three things in our life.  These past few years have been difficult for everyone, I think.  2024 was certainly challenging for me especially in regard to my health and the loss of loved ones.  

I am using the concepts of peace, love and joy to help me thrive in 2025!

Peace for me means inner peace in addition to world peace and peace for the nation.   There are many different types of love: for family, country, pets and even pizza!  And joy; who doesn’t search for ways to bring more joy into their lives?

I am still working on my New Year’s resolutions. One of mine is to focus on finding way to bring more peace, love and joy to my life in 2025.  We only get one life, and we need to enjoy it the best we can as long as we don’t harm others in the process.  

To answer my own questions:  time spent with friends and family is one thing that brings me joy.  I love my family, my country, our dog Mowgly and of course I love pizza and rusty things!  Being able to reflect quietly brings me peace.   Over the next few days, I plan to spend some more time reflecting on ways to bring more peace and more joy to my everyday life.

Here are a few ways I incorporate peace-love-joy into my home decor.  

Ways to Display the Sign in My Home

One way I decided to use the sign was in a Valentine’s Day display for the entryway.  Having it there reminds me to keep those words uppermost in my thoughts and not to dwell on the negative things surrounding us.  After Valentine’s Day, I move it to either the bedroom or our pink bathroom, two other places where I can see it often during the day.

Let’s see how I put this vignette together. 

To start the vignette, I gathered several items that I thought would work well with the sign.  I normally call this gathering process “shopping my home”.  Before racing out to buy something new, I like to see what I have laying around the house.  Many times, I discover things I have completely forgotten that I had!  One such item was the Shabby Chic inspired large piece of cotton fabric.  It made a great tablecloth! 

I love the rustic looking old wooden tool box.  It adds texture and interest to the display.  The box originally served as one of my uncle’s tool box.

Here is how it looks with the lid propped opened. The garden fork makes a great way to hold it open!

I also incorporated a heart shaped tray, a small candle, a figurine and a gold hurricane.  I used an ironstone compote as a pedestal to give the hurricane more height.

To complete the display, I added a Valentine’s gift bag decorated with pink & red hearts.

On a side note, the hallway is really hard to photograph!  It is hard to get a picture without having my reflection in the mirror!  If you are interested in learning more about the mirror, there is a cute story about it here:

Christmas Towels Used Year ‘Round

Technically these hand towels are Christmas towels but I use them year ’round in our pink bathroom.  They are perfect for our Florida home!

Looking ahead to Spring

The sign looks so cute as a backdrop for the “planted” tulips in a 6 hole sugar mold!
