Now that the Christmas holidays are over, it is thyme to start thinking about decorating for Valentine’s Day! Let me show you how quickly and easily I transform this centerpiece!
Honestly, I tried to talk myself into leaving it just like is for Valentine’s Day since it has so much red in it. I even tried to convince myself that the jingle bells could be passed off as “love chimes” or something! But I finally came to my senses and decided to do a quick refresh or “tweak”.

How to Transition Displays from Christmas to Valentine’s Day
Seasonal transitions are easiest when you keep your base pieces neutral and simply swap out the accents. Here’s how I refreshed my Christmas display and gave it a rustic Valentine’s Day twist.
The Steps
Step 1: Remove the Christmas‑Specific Elements
I started by taking away anything that felt too holiday‑specific — greenery with berries, ornaments, and anything with a Christmas motif. Leaving the reclaimed spindles, wood tones, and neutral pieces in place gives you a clean foundation.
Step 2: Add Red Ribbon and Simple Valentine’s Accents
A spool of red ribbon instantly shifts the mood from Christmas to Valentine’s Day. I tied small bows, added a few loops of ribbon around the spindles, and tucked in a heart accent for a subtle nod to the holiday.
The ribbon came from the Dollar Tree. Each spool has 9 ft of ribbon. I was able to make three small bows and have enough left over to make a small banner from one spool of ribbon. I used the red wire to tie the heart accent in the center of the bow. The red wire is an Oasis Floral product called bullion wire. It is easy to work with and can be used in a number of ways to add interest to your creations.
Next, I tied the ribbons onto the spindles. A very quick, inexpensive way to turn them into a Valentine’s Day decoration!
Step 3: Create a Quick DIY Ribbon Banner
This little banner is the easiest DIY.
All you need is:
- Red or patterned ribbon
- Bullion wire or twine
- Scissors
Cut small strips of ribbon, tie them along the wire, and hang it across your display. It adds movement, color, and a handmade touch that feels perfectly rustic.
The ribbon from the Dollar Tree was the same width as the middle part of the red ribbon. I used Velcro to stick the two ribbons together to make the small banner. The banner looked good as part of the spindle display or tucked into the corner of the electric candle display.

Refresh the Electric Candle for a Soft Glow
I swapped out the Christmas candle ring for a simple greenery ring and added a red bow. It’s amazing how one tiny change can shift the whole mood.
I simply changed the candle ring, replaced the jingle bells with a few small red flowers and added the rustic Love sign. The banner is tucked into the side of the bowl.
Valentine’s Day Display Ideas Using Rustic & Reclaimed Pieces
Cabinet Display
Inside the cabinet, I layered:
- Reclaimed spindles
- A rustic “Love” sign
- A candle with a red bow
- A simple ribbon banner
- A small heart accent
The mix of textures — wood, ribbon, metal, and soft candlelight — creates a cozy, collected look that feels both vintage and fresh.
The display works in the cabinet as well as on top of the wicker coffee table. Since the cabinet area is longer, I can add a few more Valentine’s Day touches such as the vintage Valentine man on wheels.

Coffee Table Display
On the coffee table, I kept things simple:
- A reclaimed wood tray
- A wooden spindle wrapped with ribbon
- A heart tied on for a sweet touch
It’s understated, warm, and perfect for everyday February living.
