It’s My 5 Year Blogaversary!

September 1, 2025 by Kimberly Snyder Leave a Comment

Spread the love

Chalk paint projects, easy home decor ideas and flea market style continue to be the favorite topics on the blog!

As I open the door to the start of year 6 on the blog, it seems like a good thyme to reflect back on the past year.  While things haven’t gone quite like I had envisioned when I started blogging 5 years ago, it still has been a worthwhile endeavor!  I have met new friends, learned new things and shared some of my knowledge.

In honor of my 5th blogaversary, let’s take a look at the Top 5 Blog Posts of the past year!

On this blog, I may sometimes use affiliate links, which means I earn a small commission if you purchase via the link. The price will be the same whether you use the affiliate link or go directly to the vendor’s website using a non-affiliate link.  By using my affiliate links to shop, it helps me to be able to continue bringing you fresh new ideas and projects!  Thank you!

A Quick Thank You

Before I get started with the review, I’d like to take the thyme to thank you for following me and supporting me on my journey!

Perhaps you originally found my blog via a blog hop, a link party, a Google search or via Hometalk.  Regardless of how you started following me, I am so glad you are here!  I have a passion for flowers (a former florist) and flour (a former pizzeria owner) and many things in between!  Especially rusty and chippy items! Sometimes I describe myself as a Zone 6a girl living in a tropical world!  If you are a gardener, you will know what I mean!

I love to share all the things I have learned over the years.  Sometimes I tell stories about my life.  Other times, I will share a craft or a recipe.  I do like to use the word “thyme” instead of “time” in my writing!

If you would like to learn more about my journey, all the details can be found here:

Now it is thyme to get started on our year in review!

Pictured below is my 6 year old self wishing for a career as an entrepreneur!  Little did I know what a journey this would be!  From the early days when the business had a more floral/gardening focus as Kim’s Kakes, Kuttings & Kandles Too to Petals & Porch Posts then onto the transition to working with flour at Makin’ Pizza and now where it all comes together at From Farmhouse to Florida, my love of herbs, decorating, flowers, cooking and family is woven throughout.

The amazing young woman in the photo with me is KariAnne Wood from Thistlewood Farms.   I have followed her blog for several years.  Since I had subscribed to her mailing list, I received emails daily.  I didn’t always open them… sorry, KariAnne!  But one that I received a little over five years ago , really caught my eye.  KariAnne was starting a blogging Mastermind group to teach the business of blogging.

I had toyed with the idea of starting a blog for several years at that point.  I just never did it.  I naively thought it was just like Facebook… sit down, write, post, done!   So I signed up thinking “how hard can it be?”  I seem to say that a lot right before jumping into something new!  Sometimes, I probably should have dug a little deeper to see how hard it really was!

In all honesty, KariAnne’s group was really geared towards people who were already blogging and looking to take their blogs to the next level.  She was gracious enough to make room for a handful of newbies and give us the tips and guidance that we needed to get started.  She called our group The Creators.

Today marks the day that KariAnne is starting a new endeavor.  Her on-line shoppe Thistlewood & Co opens today. The Shoppe features hand made items from a variety of talented creators. You can browse all of the cute things here: Thistlewood & Co

It is Harder than it looks, folks!

I soon found out that it is much harder than it looks!  There is a lot that goes on behind the scenes that most people don’t realize.  Between KariAnne’s help and the help of another lady in the group, the From Farmhouse to Florida blog went live on September 2, 2020.

While not as physically grueling as working in the flower shop or sweating next to the 500 degree pizza oven, blogging can be mentally grueling.  So much to learn!  From Pinterest to Instagram to TikTok and everything in between, many times my head is just spinning!  But one of the most important things about blogging is that it is your business and there is room for everyone who wants become a creator/influencer/entrepreneur!  Each of us brings something unique to the blogging world!

Would you like to revisit one of my very first posts? It is the cute story of  where my Mom found the oak framed mirror that I still use in my decor today! Fortunately, my photography skills have improved over the years! The post can be found here: The Story Behind the Mirror

Many years ago, I self published a cookbooklet.   I introduced the concept of herbal condiments and dessert herbs.

I had originally planned to work on a new book in 2024.  However, my various health challenges (follow the journey here )zapped most of my energy and a lot of my creativity. I am hopeful that I can resume working on a new book that combines my love of herbs, garden antiques and brocante style decorating ideas very soon!
