Hardwood Floors Underneath the UGLY Carpet!

What Is Underneath All the Boxes and the Carpet?

boxes ready for the move

The hideous  shag carpet was on the floors in the two main floor bedrooms for years.  It needed to be pulled up years ago.  I finally convinced Dave to help me pull it up in the office when we were getting the house ready to go on the market the Spring of 2019.  I was not successful in getting him to let me pull it up in the Master bedroom, though.

Once we got it pulled up, the floor was in pretty good shape.  The padding had stuck to the floor in some places so we had to scrape it off before I could clean the floor.

The above picture shows the spot that was in the worst shape.  After I washed it with a mild oil soap, I took furniture polish and touched it up.

Pulling up the carpet and exposing the hardwood floors underneath really made this room look bigger and brighter.  My husband and I used this as our office.  It was my Dad’s bedroom when I was growing up.

I wish we had pulled up the carpet years before we did!

Several months later, I discovered a line of products by Rejuvanate.  To see how their product worked on these floors, please check out this post:

[…] In addition to clearing everything out, there were a number of things that needed to be done in order to get the house ready to go on the market.  This picture of my husband was taken almost two years ago.  I wish we would have removed the carpet long before we did.  The carpet removing process in order to reveal the hardwood floors is detailed here: […]
