Meet Tara!

Spread the love

Tara

Doesn’t Tara have an amazing smile?  She is almost always smiling! Tara was my life line when I owned Makin’ Pizza!  I “inherited” Tara from the previous owner.  Knowing that Tara would be working for me was one of the reasons I felt confident in my decision to purchase the business.

Tara has been making pizzas since she was in high school.  She has had other jobs too of course. She truly loves making pizza and feeding people!

I am not sure how many pizzas she has made in her pizza career but it is a lot!

Cousins

I actually first met Tara when I owned the flower shop.  I didn’t realize it at the time, but Tara and I are sort of related.  Her dad is a distant cousin to my cousins thru their mother.  That makes us cousins, doesn’t it?  My husband is shaking his head…. that kind of logic drives him crazy!

But this is a story about Tara, not Dave!  Geeze, Dave!   Tara said that a lot when I had the pizzeria!

I managed to surprise her for her birthday the first year we had Makin’ Pizza.  I reserved the dining room for a birthday party under an alias.  We had her so convinced that there was a party that evening that when her Mom and sister showed up, she told them they couldn’t stay because the dining room was reserved!  The look on her face when I told her the party was for her was priceless!

Isn’t this an adorable picture?  I absolutely love it!  Pictured with Tara is her young assistant!  Actually, Finley is the daughter of another incredible lady who goes by the name of Barn Bride!

Tara is a wife, a mom, a daughter, a sister and a friend.  She recently celebrated her 17th wedding anniversary.  The loves of her life are her two daughters.

When I made the decision to sell Makin’ Pizza, it made sense to sell it to Tara.  She has taken what we worked on together and built on it!  She has weathered the storm of Covid-19.  I am proud of her!

Perhaps she was a little leery when she found out who was buying the former Mama B’s almost 6 years ago, but I think she grew to love me as much as I love her!

Even when she doesn’t feel like smiling inside, Tara smiles on the outside!

I had at least 2 nicknames at Makin’ Pizza, neither of which can be shared publicly. One involved dishwashing. Anyone who works/owns a restaurant should really be appreciated!

[…] My maternal Grandpa owned a restaurant in a small town in Illinois for several years.  My Mom worked there as a waitress.  Her experience working in the restaurant led her to forbid me from ever owning a restaurant.  She felt it was the hardest job in the world.  After she passed away, I decided to purchase an existing pizzeria.  Fortunately, experienced staff came with the business so it made my life a lot easier!  You can read about my manager Tara here: […]
