While this post was originally written for the Holiday Season 2020, I basically put the tree in the same place each year! If it isn’t broke, don’t fix it!
Anyone else struggle with where to put the Christmas Tree? I finally managed to find the perfect spot!
One of my Facebook memories from a past November was the following:
November 25, 2010 – There was a tiny bit of friction in the Snyder household this morning. Mr. Snyder seemed to think I was spending too much time decorating the house…. he is married to a florist/antique shop owner/decorator for goodness sakes… I would think that people coming for the Holidays would expect the house to look like one of the above lives there! At least on the first floor…!
Now 10 years later, he is still fussing about all the decorating! One would think he would be used to it by now! But no! This morning, I needed to make room in the gathering room for the Christmas tree. We had already decided to put up the 6 ft artificial one that my Great Aunt had left in the house when she moved to the assisted living. If you are just starting to follow me on my journey, you can read more about how we came to purchase our Florida house here:
Choosing the Perfect Spot
I wanted to find a spot for the tree where it would look good, we could enjoy looking at it but wouldn’t require “tearing the whole playhouse down”. “Tearing the whole playhouse down” is another one of the terms my friend, Rick, used when we would have to reset the flower shop for the holidays. He had several favorite sayings like ” cave of wonders” and “do you even know what I am talking about?”.
After pondering for several days, I finally decided that this corner in the gathering room would meet all the requirements. I would only have to move the primitive chest and the bench as well as the crock. But compared to what would have to be moved out of the way in the other possible locations, this was a piece of cake!
I decided to use this painted wicker table as a stand for the Christmas tree. It would add some height to the tree. Using it was a tree stand would also free up space in the office for the primitive chest!
I actually think I like the primitive chest here next to the loveseat in the office better than where it was in the gathering room!
Ready for the Decorations!
I decided I didn’t like how the white material looked hanging under the tree skirt, so I took the scissors and cut it off! It looks so much better, don’t you think?
We got the lights on and some of the decorations before the football games started! I will have to finish tomorrow!
