Looking for a few Summer fireplace mantel decorating ideas? I’d love to show you how I find inspiration for my Summer mantel!
Do you have a fireplace mantel that you love to decorate for the various seasons? I really enjoyed decorating the mantel and hearth in our farmhouse. I’d love to share two of my Summer fireplace decorating ideas!
For Summer decorating in my home, I either do a red, white & blue palette or a yellow & white one. Oddly enough, I don’t think I ever decorated the farmhouse mantel in a patriotic red, white & blue motif! If I did, I didn’t take any pictures!
Fortunately, I did get some photos of my Summer Daisy Themed fireplace! Yellow & white really say Summer to me! Yellow is such a happy color!
My Inspiration for The Summer Fireplace Mantel
When I was thinking about how to decorate the fireplace mantel & hearth for Summer, I first looked around the house to see what I had. I call that process “shopping my home”!
I remembered I had these garden gnomes.
I also found this ceramic pot with a daisy motif. I ended up not using it!
I found some garden books that would look good stacked on the corner of the hearth.
And this sign is perfect!

Clear off The Mantel & Hearth
Before decorating the mantel, I added this piece of old fencing. It has the perfect gray patina. I placed the piece of fencing up on the mantel to see how it looked. I decided the height and width were just perfect for the spot!
A set of black wrought iron gates act as a fireplace screen. These will serve as a backdrop for a display on the hearth.
Start layering your items into the display
To decorate the mantel, I propped the garden sign against the fence. Instead of candles, I topped the candle holders with moss spheres. A rusty old garden tool adds interest to the display. The garden gnomes add a touch of whimsy!
To decorate the hearth, I stacked the garden encyclopedias on one end. A spray of faux flowers tied with a ribbon hangs from a wrought iron peg rack.
To finish off the display, I added an old wooden carrier. The old wooden gray box is filled with artificial herbs. You can never have too many tool carriers or wooden boxes in my opinion! More about my obsession with wooden boxes, rusty things and old carriers can be found here: Worn Wooden Boxes & Cool Rusty Things!

An Alternative Display
I had so much fun decorating this end of Summer fireplace mantel that I decided to create a 2nd option. Instead of the old gray fence, I used a wooden floor grate. I also removed the gray carrier from the hearth.
Which do you like better?
