Meet Dave!

March 13, 2024 by Kimberly Snyder 5 Comments

Spread the love

This handsome gentleman is Dave, my husband of 30 + years!  He has supported me along my entrepreneurial journey in a number of ways.  He helped in so many ways with my parents when they were still alive.  His background in Pharmacy was extremely helpful as was his patience in dealing with the elderly!

When I owned the pizzeria, Makin’ Pizza, the team made him a special T shirt for his birthday.  On the back , in silver glitter , was his job title.  I can’t divulge that here but it involved washing dishes.  Dave washed a lot of dishes for us at Makin’ Pizza. I do think he enjoyed working at Makin’ Pizza much more than he did helping me when I did antique and herb shows.  In my years of the herb business as well as the flower shop,  I did a lot of shows. He said it was like moving every weekend!

Occasionally , Dave will ask questions that he should already know the answer to.  After all, we have been married over 30 years.  Just this week, he asked a question about mulch.  He was mildly irritated when I said I would need to take a piece of lava rock to the store to see which color mulch looked better with the existing rock, red or brown.  As Tara, my former manager at Makin’ Pizza and now owner of Mama T’s, would say “Geeze, Dave”!

And there are many times when I am in the zone of decorating or planning or doing whatever it is I need to do with out interruptions, I want to send him to :

If only it wasn’t so far away!  It is in St Thomas, USVI.  Dave would really like it there, I know, because it isn’t far from his favorite island, St John USVI!

But if I can’t send him to Husband Day Care, I can always read a magazine while he is talking!  I love this picture!

He helped a lot when it came time to get the houses ready to go on the market.  You can read more about that process here:

He spent hours cleaning, packing, scrubbing, painting.  I couldn’t have done it without him!  He was especially handy when it came to reaching the higher areas!

As a reward for all his hard work and for putting up with me over the years, I took him on a Caribbean Cruise to celebrate his milestone birthday a few years ago!   My lovely hat is actually made of leaves.  The guide made it for me, and I wore it the rest of the excursion!

Dave is not only my husband, but he is also a father to two fine sons.  The boys were 10 and 17 when we got married.  They are grown now.  The oldest, Ryan has three children of his own and a lovely wife.  Andrew, the youngest, lives in California and works in the education field.

Dave has always been my “why”!

[…] Having an oval dough bowl makes creating a stunning seasonal centerpiece so quick and easy!   Dough bowls get their name from their former purpose: making bread dough!   The bowl was a great place for the bread dough to rise as the wood helped retain the heat which in turn helped the dough rise.  They are also sometimes referred to as trenchers. Mine is 20 inches long and oval.  I also have a hand hewn one that is round.   The  oval shape of this one works great for use on my gathering room coffee table.   My oval dough bowl is a reproduction but there are still many antique ones available. I love dough bowls so much, I am thinking about getting a slightly bigger one to use on our outdoor dining table!   Shhhhhhh,  don’t tell Dave!   […]
