In the Pizza Kitchen with Kim

In case this is your first thyme visiting the blog, let me introduce myself!  My name is Kimberly and I have a passion for flowers (a former florist) and flour (a former pizzeria owner) and many things in between!  I like to use the word “thyme” in place of time.

In honor of National Pizza Day February 9,2025,  I am sharing one of my favorite pizza related decorating projects!

I had the opportunity to pick out a personalized sign for our home.  The company, Tailored Canvas,  has a wide variety of inspirational signs that can be customized with your name.  It didn’t take me long to pick one out!

With all the choices the company had, why would I pick out a pizza themed one?

Well, thanks for asking!  Here is the answer!

Makin’ Pizza was the name of the pizzeria I owned when we lived in Illinois. After 14 years as a florist, I was ready for a change.  The local pizza parlor was looking for a new owner.  So I downsized my floral business, moved it into the back part of the pizzeria and started working with flour!  For more information about my entrepreneurial journey, please see Grow, Sprout , Bloom

Putting my own personal touches on the menu at Makin’ Pizza was one of my top priorities. I started by adding three new specialty pizzas! The menu already had several delicious specialty pizzas.  I did some research and decided that one pizza we had to add to the menu was a pizza with an alfredo sauce and chicken.  I made several test pizzas and let the staff decide what they thought.  It was a big hit among the staff and we added it to the menu.

The pizza pictured below is one of the chicken with alfredo sauce pizzas ready to go into the oven.  I am still looking for a picture of one fresh out of the oven.  They usually got eaten faster than we could get a picture of them!

We also came up with a cheeseburger pizza in honor of my Dad.  His favorite food was cheeseburgers!  Our cheeseburger pizza had hamburger, cheddar cheese, onions, pizza sauce and was topped with tomatoes.  We didn’t add pickles or mustard.  I have heard of cheeseburger pizzas with those ingredients but we chose to not add those.

I also developed a Brownie pizza.  It was so delicious!

Where Did I Put My Sign?

In our outdoor kitchen area, of course! I am in love with my new customized canvas sign from @tailoredcanvas. This canvas sign is made in the USA and comes in a variety of sizes. There are many different themes to choose from.  If you want a beautiful customized sign of your own visit @tailoredcanvas .

The company will send you a proof before they actually make your sign so that you can be sure everything is spelled correctly.

I ultimately moved the sign into the house.  I have it displayed over the kitchen cabinets!
