Summer patio flower pots can easily be refreshed for fall! Sometimes it is a simple as a quick trim and some deadheading!
Late Summer Planter Before
Late Summer Planter After
A little hair cut and the addition of white pumpkins are just enough to brighten up this pot! Placing it on the burlap stand helps draw attention to it! The stand is actually a 5 gallon pickle bucket wrapped in burlap.
Late Summer Planter In Florida
I brought several of the planters back to Florida with me. I added a 4 inch bronze mum and a 4 in gold lantana to the planter. Instead of the burlap stand, I placed the planter on one of my vintage wrought iron patio chairs.
Hot Summer Mix – It is Still Summer in Florida!
I also brought the large planter with the hot pink geraniums back from Illinois. To give it even more height and to allow the spider plant to drape properly, I placed it on another of my wrought iron patio chairs. I really like the addition of the Rosy Periwinkle Vinca in the patio pot. It coordinates with the Rosy Periwinkle Vinca in the garden beds.
The planter in the foreground was looking a bit tired before I added the 4 inch yellow mum and the gold lantana. I love the red spike in the center of the pot. The antique grindstone in the background belonged to my Mom. I brought it with me when I came back from Illinois this past July. You can read more about downsizing the family home here:

This angel vine started out as a 4 inch pot last December! This afternoon, I repotted it from a 10 inch pot into this 14 inch pot. It was root bound in the 10 inch pot. I added a grass called Mystic grass which is similar to a sedge I really like called Toffee Twist. I also added a 4 inch bronze mum, two gold lantana and a purple viney plant that I don’t know the name of. This pot is rather neutral so I accented it with the large flower made of spoons and the “stained glass” daisies.
Flowers in the Lanai
I ran out of steam before I finished decorating the lanai for fall. I will post pictures of it when I get it finished!
Past Fall Patio Pots from Petals & Porch Posts
Patio pots were one of my favorite things to make when I had my flower shop, Petals & Porch Posts. The patio pot above was designed for a lake front wedding. The bocapa and diamond frost give it an airy look. The open weave wicker heart and pods are great accents.
The large patio pots on either side of the door were designed by me for the TV show , Extreme Makeover Home Edition. It was absolutely one of the most rewarding experiences I have had. You can read about my experience here:
[…] After looking for Diamond Frost for months in Florida, I finally found two planters that contained it when I was back in Illinois recently. You can read more about that here: […]
