Looking for some easy fall porch decor ideas? It doesn’t get much easier than pumpkins, pots of blooming plants & ears of corn!

While it is too early to actually decorate your porch for the autumn season, it isn’t too early to start gathering some easy fall porch decor ideas!

My favorite season is Fall!  Fall is certainly different in Florida but I do have fond memories of my years living in the Midwest!

Fall At the Flower Shop

Labor Day marked the unofficial start of Fall in Illinois.  I started getting mums in by the end of August.  Often it was still quite warm and windy.  The combination of heat and wind was hard on the mums.  It was usually easier to keep them watered by setting them in a kiddie pool and adding water to the pool.  The mums would soak up the water thru the holes in the pots.

My thyme as a florist gave me a lot of opportunities to decorate using a variety of pumpkins, gourds, blooming plants and ears of corn!

Many times, my Dad would go to a nearby town and pick up several large boxes of assorted pumpkins and gourds.  Sometimes, he would even go pick up the mums that I had ordered from a greenhouse 2 hours away!

Assorted Mums of course!

The next two beautiful pictures of fall mums, blooming plants and assorted green plants were taken on the island of Lido, located off of Venice Italy.  I was surprised to see similar blooming plants to what the florists in the US would have in their shops during the fall.  It was so fun to see all the blooming plants inside the shops that were along the street when Dave & I took a trip to Europe in the Fall of 2019.

The rust colored pictured below was one of two that I purchased at Walmart last fall.  At the end of November, I cut it way, way back.  I was pleasantly surprised that it bloomed again at Easter!

Pumpkins

I love to stack the pumpkins on top of each other.  The tiny fairy lights woven throughout this display is such a sweet touch!

I love the little white pumpkins!

The geranium below was looking a little sad one year.  It was late October and I gave it a makeover! I think it turned out pretty good!  To see what I did, please see this post: Can This Geranium Be Saved

Grain

I often used ears of corn in my fall outdoor displays. Wheat, broom corn or other dried material was also used.  I will admit that the squirrels and the birds would often eat the display before the end of the season!

Shopping Links-

There are a wide variety of lengths of battery fairy lights available on Amazon.  Just be sure you are purchasing ones that say outdoor!  A remote would be handy too so you don’t have to go outside to turn them on!

This one does some tricks!  I think I will order these to see what all they can do!

Don’t forget to order batteries!
